as much as I love cool protection photos, my favourites are always going to be the handler & their dog.
a lot of people say they work their dog, a lot of people say they have goals, & a lot of people say they’re going to try, but rarely ever do.
it takes so much ambition & courage to actually step on the field with your dog, mock trial or not. it’s hard to show people your progress especially in the beginning when all you can think about is what others are going to think, what happens if your dog messes up, or how there might be a better dog, etc., etc.,
and as someone who’s been there just like everyone else, who cares if there’s a better dog? all of those amazing dogs & handlers all started somewhere. when you stop worrying about what others will think, you’ll start to just enjoy being on the field, you’ll enjoy showing your progress and you’ll even enjoy the critiques because it’ll continue to fuel your drive.
to all the people that show up, we see you, keep showing up, keep training your dog 🫡
