This month’s featured rescue is Dogwood Animal Rescue! Formally Dorset Rescue Kittens (and a former featured rescue here at Books & Buns)
This rescue holds a special place in the Books & Buns’ hearts as this is where we found our darling Keanu!
What began as a small, cat-focused rescue in Dorset, Ontario has grown into something much bigger!. Over the past three years since relocating to Puslinch, Ontario, the Dogwood Animal Rescue mission has expanded beyond cats to include dogs, rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs, rats, and other animals in need of safe, loving homes. This new name reflects who the rescue has become and the future we are building.
Dorset Rescue Kittens was founded in the summer of 2020 by registered veterinary technician Cailey Seymour. Having been involved with many animal rescue organizations, Cailey felt strongly called to establish a rescue of her own, rooted in compassion and hands-on care. It all began with a single 5-week-old orphaned kitten named Blue. After Blue was adopted, word quickly spread, and more requests for help began to arrive. Before long, Cailey was caring for 14 kittens in her home, and Dorset Rescue Kittens was born. Now, as Dogwood Animal Rescue, they are continuing that same mission, just on a larger scale. Their legal name is now Dogwood Animal Rescue.
