For those that are new here, I’d like to tell you a bit about us. We are a small cat rescue that has been in operation for 30 years. We are volunteer run, and donations based rescue. Our volunteer base is very small and our cats survive on what you send us. From food to money. This past year, we have received the lowest amount of financial donations ever. We have been scraping from our own pockets to get some of our cats to the vet and to cover prescription foods and medication.food donations are on the low side as well. We have 18 senior cats in our care. Out of these senior cat we have 2 with kidney disease and are on prescription kidney food. We have 3 with IBD. Each one is on different perscription foods for their IBD. One was just diagnosed last week. Her food alone has cost $180, for one small bag of dry food and one flat of wet food. Times that by 3 and Thats $540. Frosty as everyone has met on here is diabetic. He is on perscription food AND perscription medication. That medication cost is $480 for less than 3 months. Thats $160 a month just for diabetic medication. Our kidney cats occasionally need sub q fluids, that need to be purchased through the vet. Each bag of ringer solution is $34. This year we spent $1800 on dental surgery for Casper as well as $250 for Marmalade ( whom has past last week from aggressive kidney cancer) and $389 on Ila ( IBD diagnosis not included her $180 for food).
75% of these expenses has come from the volunteers pocket as we can’t let these cat not stay healthy. We are coming to another critical point in our year, we have another cat that needs to get into the vet. Wild Rose has feline herpes and it affects her sinuses. She won’t eat if she can’t smell her food and as of this evening it’s been decided that she must see the vet before Monday. We need to raise funds for this vet visit as our personal pockets are almost empty. But we also are low on cat food. We have 12 cats that eat regular wet/dry cat food. And we are down our last 1/3 bag of purina complete dry cat food. Our last 3 boxes of fancy feast grilled wet food and 6 boxes of the fancy feast pate boxed. We go through 6 cans twice a day every day. So some of this will only last us a week or two before it’s gone.
We like to keep 6-8 bags of the purina complete, 4 bags each of the two (purina and hills) sensitive stomach dry on hand. As well as 20-30 boxes of wet food. This allows us to not have to choose between the food or the vet bills.
We also are in need of other supplies that we get from places like Costco. Our garbage bags and paper towels are must haves from there. As well as swifter wet wipes for the floor and from Walmart we purchased the XXL puppy pads to line a few cages and playpens.
So I am asking that if you can donate something please do. If you can’t share our posts to help us reach more people that could possibly donate. Or find a way to raise funds to help buy our supplies. Every single thing helps us. If you have something to donate and can’t get it to us, reach out as I can arrange to pick up on the weekends only.
Our Amazon list is below. Please feel free to use the address on our page or Amazon list of you would like to send from another store like chewy or petsmart etc. I’ll include the e-transfer link as well for financial donations.
