Annex Cat Rescue is a 100% volunteer charity dedicated to addressing the plight of homeless cats. Please note: We do not have an office or a shelter.

Annex Cat Rescue is a Toronto-based, 100% volunteer registered charity founded in 1997. Our mission is to address the problem of homeless & street cats in Toronto by spaying/neutering, bringing adoptable cats into our foster/adoption program, managing colonies of feral cats (those who are not adoptable), and educating the public about responsible pet ownership and living with community cats. Cats live with foster families or in managed colonies.

Oscar the Meow is a little kitten with a big personality! He's extremely outgoing and always ready for an adventure.

He will leap off all four paws when he's in play/hunt mode and something moves unexpectedly. He also does impressive flips while chasing wand toys, and walks around holding toys in his mouth that are half his size.

He would do well in a home with a kitten friend, no young children and patient adopters who redirect his playful biting to toys. If you're looking for a kitten who will keep you on your toes, entertain you and eventually settle in for a long cuddle/nap, Oscar could be the perfect kitten for you.

Adult cats generally don’t meow at other adult cats very much. While they communicate with each other through scent, body language and other vocalizations, meowing is a sound cats commonly use to get our attention.

Over time, cats learn that certain sounds get certain responses from their humans. A little meow might mean “Good morning!” A louder one might mean “Where’s my breakfast?”

Some cats are naturally chatty, while others prefer to communicate with a quiet chirp, a little trill, or a meaningful stare that says absolutely everything.

Meet Floyd Pepper! He likes to take his time getting to know new people and new surroundings. He can be a little shy at first but behind those cautious eyes is a sweet, sensitive boy who wants to be part of the family ... he just prefers to do things at his own pace.

One of Floyd's favourite habits is sneaking onto his foster mom's bed at night. He'll curl up nearby, close enough to feel connected but not quite ready for full-on cuddles. While he's still deciding how he feels about pets, treats are definitely the way to his heart! With patience, consistency and a steady supply of snacks, Floyd continues to build confidence and trust every day.

Floyd enjoys the company of other cats and would thrive in a home with a feline friend. He is looking for an adopter who understands that some cats need a little extra time to shine. Thank you, VEG ER for Pets for sponsoring Team Annex Cat Rescue with a $2,500 donation!

VEG opened in February and is a 24-hour urgent and emergency care hospital with a unique twist ... an open floor plan that lets pets and owners stay together through the entire visit, even during treatments and overnight. This has definitely made emergency visits less stressful for both our kitties and their foster parents!

So far the VEG team has helped us with illnesses, emergency weekend surgery and most memorably, they have a perfect 3/3 record in getting our cats to throw up stupid things they've eaten (not an easy feat!).

A few kitties they've helped recently:

🧡 3-year-old Grayson, who's eaten both rat poison AND the string from one of his toys
🧡 11-year-old Pixie, who needed a blood transfusion due to complications from cancer treatment
🧡 6-year-old White Paws, who was found with a shattered back leg that needed to be amputated on a weekend
🧡 5-year-old Pinecone, who fell over 30 feet out of a tree ... and amazingly no broken bones or internal injuries!

Meet Bunny - a sweet, quirky girl with an adorable little blep! 🖤🐰

This 2-year-old sweetheart can be shy at first, but with patience, her playful personality shines. She loves wand toys, exploring in the evenings, and surveying her kingdom from her cat tree. Her little tongue peek is extra cute thanks to her past dental surgery!

Bunny would thrive in a quiet, stable home with a patient male caregiver who can help her build trust at her own pace.

Meet Juno, a happy tabby kitten who proves that three legs are all he needs for adventure!

Juno loves racing around, climbing cat trees, and playing with his feline friends. He’s a little shy with people at first, but with patience, he’ll settle in for cuddles and enjoy a good scratch behind his ear.
