Annex Cat Rescue

Annex Cat Rescue Annex Cat Rescue is a 100% volunteer charity dedicated to addressing the plight of homeless cats. Please note: We do not have an office or a shelter.

Annex Cat Rescue is a Toronto-based, 100% volunteer registered charity founded in 1997. Our mission is to address the problem of homeless & street cats in Toronto by spaying/neutering, bringing adoptable cats into our foster/adoption program, managing colonies of feral cats (those who are not adoptable), and educating the public about responsible pet ownership and living with community cats. Cats live with foster families or in managed colonies.

Meet Floyd Pepper - a sweet, gentle boy who just needs a little time to come out of his shell!

Floyd is shy with new people but loves being close to his humans, especially sneaking onto the bed at night to sleep nearby. He's very treat-motivated and is slowly learning that people can be trusted.

He loves other cats and would thrive with a friendly feline companion. Floyd is looking for a patient home where he can blossom at his own pace.

Cats are experts at hiding pain. Watch for changes in their everyday behaviour, including:
• Hiding more or becoming less social
• Eating less
• Moving less or avoiding jumps
• Changes in grooming or litter-box habits
• Becoming unusually sensitive or irritable

If something seems different from your cat’s normal behaviour, talk to your veterinarian.

Save & share this post to help other cat parents spot the signs. ❤️

He may be a little shy with new people, but once he feels comfortable, he blossoms into an affectionate companion who loves being petted.

Javier loves his toys and playful adventures, and he'd thrive with a patient family who gives him time to settle in and show his true personality.

Benny and Fish are two little besties looking for their forever home 🐱💛

These bonded brothers are practically glued to each other. They sleep together, play together, investigate everything together, and are always ready to run toward wherever the action is.

Benny is the cuddlier brother who loves giving little trills and may even wake you up with face kisses. Fish is the more energetic one, always ready to zoom, wrestle, and turn playtime into an adventure. Together, they love wand toys, spring toys, treats, and eventually curling up in bed with their humans after a busy day.

These sweet, social boys must be adopted together, so their future family gets double the love and double the kitten chaos. 💕

Visit the link in our bio to learn more and apply to adopt ✨

Would you be ready for Benny and Fish’s daily dose of kitten chaos? 👇

Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! Here are some interesting things about ginger cats:

🧡 Most ginger cats are male. The gene responsible for orange colouring is carried on the X chromosome, which means male cats are much more likely to be ginger. About 80% of ginger cats are boys.

🧡 They can have freckles. Many ginger cats develop adorable little freckles on their noses, lips and gums as they get older.

🧡 Every ginger cat is unique. Their coats can range from pale cream to deep orange, with classic stripes spots or swirls.

Have a ginger cat? We'd love to see them! Drop a photo in the comments and help us celebrate all the orange cuteness.

A cat’s whiskers aren’t just cute. They’re highly sensitive sensory tools. Whiskers help cats judge whether they can fit through a space, detect nearby movement and navigate their surroundings, even in low light.

And those whiskers can tell us something too. When they’re pushed forward, your cat may be curious or focused. Pulled back against the face can be a sign of fear, stress or discomfort, while relaxed whiskers often mean your kitty is feeling calm.
