Last week, I visited .sba to photograph some of the pets there for Global Adoption Weekend, sponsored by . Here are the adorable cats 🐈 I got to meet. Professor Chunk is quite the character!

Pet adoption is close to my heart because I worked in animal shelters for over 15 years before trading in my scrubs for a camera. All of my pets have been rescues, including our amazing cat Shazam!, who came from .sba’s barn buddies program. He has turned out to be the smartest, sweetest cat I’ve ever lived with. We often say he’s our best behaved dog 🤣.

1 in 3 pets worldwide don’t have homes, your new best friend may be waiting for you at a shelter!

At any given time, close to 400 million animals in shelters around the world are waiting and hoping for their families to find them. Please consider .sba the next time you’re thinking about adding a new family member.

I’m a finalist for Best in Class for Conceptual Illustration in the PPOC Eastern Image competition. I can’t share the image right now, because it will move on to Nationals next year, but I’m very proud because I put a lot of work into this one! Eastern includes all 4 Atlantic provinces, Quebec, and Ontario, so the competition is quite fierce.

2026 EASTERN IMAGE COMPETITION
We are pleased to announce the Best in Class finalists for Conceptual Illustration:

Tracy Munson MPA
Desiree Nickerson
Louise Vessey MPA SPA

These talented photographers have demonstrated creativity, technical skill and excellence in their work. We look forward to celebrating their achievements and announcing the award recipient at Inspired Focus on October 3, 2026.

Bella and Hunter were such a fun pair of cats to photograph! We started off at their home to get some photos of Bella, and the two cats together, but then we headed outside with OfficeKittyHunter who loves to join his humans for walks with a harness. I have rarely seen a cat so chill and confident outside, he’s so lucky to have found his people, who love to include him in their adventures.

Featured today 🥰. Happy International Dog Day 🥳🐕

In celebration of International Dog Day, we are featuring two beautiful canine portraits from the 2026 Image Salon today.
First up is “Lady Of The Lavender” by Maker Tracy Munson MPA. Surrounded by rich purple lavender, this little dog immediately draws the eye with its warm brown colouring and adorable little face. The soft background and layers of lavender create a beautiful, almost dreamy setting that perfectly complements her charming presence.
“Lady Of The Lavender” scored Merit in the Animal Portrait Class and received a Judges’ Choice at the 2026 Image Salon.

It was super fun doing back to back events this weekend, but now this is me today 😵‍💫. Anyone else get introvert hangovers after too much peopling? I really should do some work, but seem to be unable to put down my Louise Penny book and drag my ass upstairs to the computer today.

Thank you to Daisy for expressing my current condition so perfectly in this photo 🤣.

If you’ve been meaning to sign your dog up for the Tails of the Hub City book project, this is your last chance! Still lots of great Moncton area locations available that nobody has chosen. You can get the full details and register through the link in my bio/comments, or come see me in person at one of the dog markets this weekend. Saturday, I’ll be at Bark in the Park at Bonar Law Common in Rexton, and Sunday at the Pet Expo at the Lions Club in Riverview.
