Animal Echoes

Animal Echoes Welcome to Animal Echoes! 🌿 I’m Sean. Just a guy sharing my favorite animal moments. From quick iPhone snaps to shots on my Sony Alpha 6700. Thanks for watching!

Let’s have some fun! 🐾📸 I'm Sean, and this is Animal Echoes. A collection of my favorite animal moments, shot on my iPhone and Sony Alpha 6700. This page is basically a digital scrapbook. A friend convinced me to finally get these photos off my hard drive and onto Facebook just for the fun of it. I shoot with a Sony Alpha 6700 for the serious stuff, but I’m also constantly filming clips on my iPho

ne. Whether it’s a perfect shot or just a funny moment, I’m posting it here. Thanks for dropping by. My goal is to share these authentic stories and foster a community dedicated to the wonder of the creatures we share this planet with.

Sunda pangolin 🐾🛡️ - Sunda pangolins have declined by around 80% in just a few decades, and over a million pangolins of all species have been poached since 2000.

Facts: The Sunda pangolin is Critically Endangered (IUCN Red List) due to rampant poaching for its scales and meat, which are used in traditional medicine and as a delicacy, primarily in China and Vietnam. Habitat loss and roadkill further threaten its survival. All pangolin species are now protected under CITES Appendix I, prohibiting international commercial trade.

Pygmy Three-toed Sloth - Small, slow, and incredibly rare. 🦥🏝️. There may be as few as 48 of them left on Earth.

The Pygmy Three-toed Sloth swims (yes, swims!) in the mangroves of just one tiny island in Panama. They are smaller than a house cat and exist nowhere else. One storm could wipe them out.

The pygmy three-toed sloth is significantly smaller than the other three members of its genus, but otherwise resembles the brown-throated three-toed sloth.

Pygmy Slow Loris 🥺 The pygmy slow loris looks like a wide‑eyed plush toy, and that’s exactly why it’s in danger.

IUCN assessments warn of steep declines, and recent studies show some slow loris species in parts of Asia are down to just hundreds of animals, drained by the pet and traditional medicine trades.

Hawksbill Sea Turtle 🐢🌊 - The hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is a critically endangered species found primarily in tropical and subtropical marine and estuary ecosystems across the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.

After a global decline of more than 80%, only around 8,000–20,000 female hawksbill turtles are thought to nest on beaches worldwide each year.

Hooded Seal ❄️🦭 A mother needs ice to raise a child! The Hooded Seal was just moved to "Endangered." Why? Because the sea ice they need to nurse their "blue-back" pups is melting away.

They are the canaries in the coal mine for our frozen world. When the ice goes, they go.

The Koala - Sometimes, hope is hiding in the treetops. 🐨💚 We thought they were gone from the area, but thermal drones just found a 'secret' population of over 4,000 Koalas near Newcastle, Australia!

In a year of hard news, finding a hidden stronghold of these sleepy icons is the breath of fresh air we needed.

The "Hairy Rhino" is fading away. 🦏

With fewer than 50 Sumatran Rhinos left, they are so isolated in the jungle they can't find mates. We are racing against time to bring them together. Extinction is not an option for this ancient species.

Fact: The Sumatran rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis), also known as the Sumatran rhino, hairy rhinoceros, or Asian two-horned rhinoceros, is the smallest living rhinoceros species and the only extant member of the genus Dicerorhinus.

🦋🍂 Western Monarch Butterfly : Imagine a sky without orange wings. The migration of the Western Monarch is collapsing.

This year, counts in California found only 9,119 butterflies, a 96% crash from just last year. The 'King of Butterflies' is losing its kingdom to climate change.

In December 2024, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed that monarch butterflies be listed as Threatened and granted protection under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). These protections would be for the entire species, including both eastern and western populations.

🦊Did you know the Red Panda was discovered 50 years before the Giant Panda? Sadly, their wild numbers have dropped by 50% in just two decades, with likely fewer than 2,500 left in the wild forests of the Himalayas.

Community rangers in Nepal are their new best friends, patrolling the forests to keep them safe.

Asiatic Cheetah - According to the latest report, the number of Asiatic cheetahs in the country stands at 26, with 20 individuals living in the wild, and six in captivity, IRNA quoted Hamid Zohrabi as saying.

A female named 'Helia' was seen with cubs this year, a tiny flicker of hope in the desert. If we lose them, the mountains will never feel the same speed again.
