Happy Monday! Everybody help us celebrate NACHO, PPR Alum #332, adopted in 2018.

Here is a wonderful update from her forever home: “Just a quick hello and annual update on little Miss Nacho.
She’s continuing to enjoy life with many adventures and treats along the way. This past year she started to have seizures which are being treated with meds. Same pug ailments along the way but nothing too concerning, finger crossed. Daily eye drops, regular ear cleans and nail trims (lord have mercy) help keep her comfortable. All of this brings us to 17!! 🎂 What a star! Still one of the happiest little ladies I’ve ever met.”

We are so moved by the support Pugalug has received over the past week. When we launched our End of Year Campaign, we did it because we had to. The rescue is full, our vet bills are high, and the pugs, depending on us, do not have anywhere else to go.
And this community showed up.

As a charitable, volunteer-run rescue, every dollar truly matters. We do not have paid staff or a building. What we do have is a small but fiercely dedicated network of foster families, volunteers, adopters and pug lovers who believe these dogs deserve a safe landing and a second chance.

Your donation, no matter the amount, is a vote of confidence in this work. It tells us that what we do matters. It tells us that this little breed, with their wiggly tails, stubborn streaks and giant hearts, has a community behind them.

Breed-specific rescues like Pugalug exist because people who love pugs understand their unique needs and the complicated circumstances that bring them into rescue. In 2025, we have seen more surrenders than ever. Times are hard. Letting go of a beloved companion is one of the most heartbreaking decisions any family can make.

That is why we are here.
To be the soft landing.
To provide the medical care, surgeries, eye treatments, dental work, diagnostics, and everything else they need to begin again in a loving, forever home.

As we look ahead to 2026, the need is not slowing down. Our commitment is not slowing down either.

The Pugalug Pug Rescue fundraising volunteers are gearing up for Giving Tuesday and our End-of-Year Campaign! 💛🐾

Many people don’t realize that it costs an average of $3,500 for us to bring a pug into rescue and provide the medical care and fostering they need. And every so often, we meet a pug like Lena, whose vet bills reach $10,000+—and we’ll do whatever it takes to give her a second chance.

Pugalug exists for dogs like these. Many of the pugs surrendered to us have complex or expensive medical needs. We are their landing pad. Their safety net. Their path to a new life.

We are a registered charity with no paid staff, no office, and no building. Our foster families open their homes purely out of love. Every dollar donated goes directly toward the care of rescued pugs.
We know times are tough for everyone. But we truly can’t do this without our pug-loving community. ❤️

We’re kicking off early this year so our message doesn’t get lost in the Giving Tuesday noise. A donation to Pugalug is a donation that literally saves lives.
