Hiring a professional dog walker isn’t just about convenience - it’s about safety, experience, and accountability. Why you should think carefully before hiring a neighbour’s kid or someone without professional experience:

A good dog walker builds trust, learns your dog’s routines, notices changes in behaviour, and genuinely cares about the time they spend with your pet. Consistency, reliability, and experience matter when someone is responsible for a member of your family.

A child may love dogs, but they often don’t have the strength, handling skills, or experience needed if something unexpected happens. Dogs can react suddenly to wildlife, traffic, other dogs, loud noises, or unfamiliar people. Even the sweetest dog can become difficult to manage in the wrong situation. Especially in situations where another dog may be unleashed and/or not in control.

A professional dog walker understands canine body language, leash handling, behavioural triggers, and emergency situations. We’re experienced, prepared, and ready to advocate for your dog’s safety at all times. 🐾🌼🧡

A clean looking smile does not always mean a healthy mouth!

As a canine professional and dog owner, I spend a lot of time learning about canine behaviour, care, and health. I’m a big believer in making decisions based on what is best for the dog, not just what looks good in a before-and-after photo.

That’s one reason why I will never recommend cosmetic dental services (for example, Kissable K9s).

These services focus on removing visible plaque and tartar from the teeth without anesthesia. While the results can look dramatic, a lot of dental problems happen below the gumline, where surface cleaning isn’t going to reveal what’s hiding below the gums.

Heavy tartar buildup can sometimes be hiding damaged areas or fractures in a tooth. Once that buildup is removed, problems that were previously hidden may become visible - including areas that can be painful, or made vulnerable to bacteria and infection. This is like slapping a paint of coat over water damage, it’s not actually addressing where the problem is rooted (no pun intended).

🦷 Ways to support your dog’s dental health at home:
• Brush teeth regularly if your dog tolerates it, even a few times per week can help. Use only dog-safe toothpaste.
• Dental gels or enzymatic toothpastes can still provide benefits even if you can only rub them along the gumline with a finger.
• Dental chews approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC).
• Certain toys and textured chews may help mechanically reduce buildup.
• Water additives approved by the VOHC.

Remember: not every dog tolerates brushing, and something is often better than nothing. Finding a routine your dog accepts consistently is usually more realistic than forcing a perfect one.
My dogs do not enjoy brushing, so I provide a daily dental chew and an additive to their water.

Our dogs deserve more than clean-looking teeth! They deserve healthy, pain-free lives. Speak to your veterinarian if you think your dog would benefit from dental care. 🐾🌼🧡

I am working on creating a Report Card to send to owners at the end of each day!

Outside of the date, walk duration, bathroom habits, notes, and a photo of your dog (of course!) on that day’s walk, what would you expect/want to see on a daily report card?

🐾 Why I Don’t Offer Group Walks 🐾

One question I get often is why I choose not to do group walks, and the answer is simple: you’re reserving time for your dog, to enrich and fulfill their day, with my full attention.

Group walks can be great for some dogs, but they also come with challenges. Managing multiple dogs at once means less individual focus, increased risk of tension between dogs, and limited ability to tailor the walk to each dog’s pace, personality, and needs.

With solo walks, your dog gets a calm, structured, and personalized experience. I can move at their speed, reinforce good leash manners, work on confidence, and ensure they feel safe and understood the entire time. If they want to stop and sniff a single blade of grass for 5 minutes, I’m going to stand there and watch. I’m there for their enjoyment!

For nervous, reactive, or easily overstimulated dogs, this one-on-one time can make a huge difference in their comfort and overall behaviour. Even for social dogs, solo walks provide a more enriching and balanced experience.

At the end of the day, it’s about quality over quantity 🐕💛
