After lots of back and forth we have made the decision not to host the Twin Hills Ranch Cattle Dog Trial this spring. Hoping to do it again sometime but will have to postpone this year.

Had a great day at Diamond J cattle dog winter series! Cattle were great, atmosphere was awesome and got to see some great friends. Ben ended up placing 4th and 2nd put of 10 in the open and 2nd and 3rd in the nursery. Not to bad for his 4th trial out! Sassy attended her first trial and had a slow first round gaining confidence and understanding but in the second round showcased more potential and had a pretty nice attempt at it which I was thrilled. She ended up 7th and 5th out of 7 dogs. Even Roan got to place with some sheep and see his siblings and mother! Big roach trip for the little big guy and he’s handling it well.

Thanks to Dallas Law for the pictures!

I love this video from the Canadian Cow Dog Futurity this past year. 4D Coop is a partner when doing jobs and I really appreciate that! He’s got my back and watching the sides holding good pressure and being strong when needed. Being able to work like this with my dogs is so fun and important in every day life and it transfers to the trials. Coop ended up being reserve champion from the futurity and has continued to be a great partner!

Thank you SherryAnn Hoogland for the video

Another year of Canadian Western Agribition dog trials in the books. Seems like for the past 3 years we have been creeping up the standings in the sheep and this year finished strong again. Sage placed 8/53 in the first round. Coop had a really nice run going but could feel him a little tight on the away side and it showed when one stomped at him and he decided to floss his teeth to get us those lovely letters DQ. Sage and I had a super nice second round run getting us 2/30 dogs putting us 2nd in the aggregate headed to the top 10 finals where we finished 3rd! I happy for 3 cleans in the sheep as she was trying to follow blue last year finishing 2nd in the aggregate headed into the finals where I messed up our finals run and sure did not want to do that this year! Blue stayed home this year which is always bitter sweet getting to bring out my two 3 year old dogs. She’s in semi retirement currently but will be out again!
Second day was cattle and that went less then ideal but I will say my dogs showed incredible work so the silver lining is my dogs showed really well. Coop was up in the foot class and holy that brockle face will sure be good in someone’s freezer. That dog worked his butt off and never quit even when she wanted to run right through him. To my shock we got a few points but did not advance to final 5 leaving us placed 13/25 dogs. Unfortunately after my run they pulled that critter for the rest of the trial. Sage was up next in horseback hoping for a better draw to and get a chance at finals for a second year in a row. Well we didn’t get the best draw and did not get the run we needed even tho she was working hard putting everything into what I was asking. We ended up tied for 7/20 dogs with them taking 4 to the finals. Thanks to Natasha Gaff for letting me jump on Gbaby to run the horseback!
Congradulations to the winners
Sheep: Jeff DeMarni and T-Mac
Cattle foot : Alicia Adamson and Grace
Cattle horseback : Clint Christianson and June

Proud of how my dogs did and so thankful to be able to see tons of friends and visit and get to these competitions!
