2021 NBDHYA Showmanship Challenge

The Champion of each Division will receive $100 & Perpetual Plaque

The Reserve Champion of each Division will receive $50

At the current time this challenge is provided ONLY for showmanship ages 6-21! The age of the Youth Member as of the 1st of January of the current year determines the age category the youth me

mber will compete in at all participating shows. Points will be awarded to competitors with a current New Brunswick Draft Horse Youth Association Membership (NBDHYA). Said membership must be paid prior to the time of competition. NBDHYA membership fee is $5.00 and it is to paid to the order of New Brunswick Draft Horse Youth Association, monies can be forwarded to:

No points will be awarded to a competitor that does not have a valid NBDHYA membership at the time of competition. Points from previous events where a competitor did not have a valid membership will not be brought forward if/when the membership is paid. Points will be awarded to the individual Youth regardless of animal used (not required to use the same horse in each competition). All individual show rules and regulations apply at the specific show. If there is specific safety precautions or regulations they must be adhered to at each individual show. Age Categories as of January 1st
Pee Wee: 6-8
Junior: 9-12
Intermediate: 13- 15
Senior: 16-21

Shows to be Included in the 2021 Program are:

Napan Agriculture Show August 14th, 2021 Napan, NB
NBDHA Sussex Show August 28th & 29th, 2021 Sussex, NB
New Brunswick Provincial Exhibition September 6th-11th, 2021 Fredericton

Points Allocation:
1st = 10 points
2nd = 8 points
3rd = 6 points
4th = 4 points
5th = 2 points
All placings after 5th will receive 1 point per competitor. The final show in the Series is NBEX, where the Champion & Reserve Champion of each age division will be presented with the cash prize and perpetual plaque. For more information:

Huge thank you to the Haywards for hosting today’s clinic at Covered Bridge Clydesdales. We really appreciate them opening their space and supporting this event! Wendy Hayward and Wesley Hayward are always so welcoming and share such valuable knowledge.

Shout out to Rocky Lyons and Michael Hayward for sharing their knowledge as our coaches, and to Tammy Nason and Blaine Nason for bringing extra horses and cooking lunch.

Such a great day of hands-on learning! The youth built skills, asked great questions, and gained real, practical experience they can carry forward into the future.

🎉 Reminder for This Weekend’s May Sale! 🎉

We’re excited to share a great update for this year’s event!
While we’ve made the decision to move away from the youth-run canteen to better support food safety and overall operations, we’re bringing something even better for our guests and families.

🔥 NBDHYA has partnered with Country Fried to offer hot, delicious meals all weekend long! Not only will you be able to enjoy great food, but a portion of all food sales will go directly back to supporting our youth programs.

During the horse pull, we’ll still have a snack table available. If you are available to volunteer some time Friday evening please reach out to Shel Lyons.
