This guy is a super sweetheart, friendly dude!
He’s got such a kind soft eye, loving mellow temperament and sharp beautiful markings. Start him your way and he’ll take you anywhere you want to go.
With the temperament from his dam and sire, this guy will make a fantastic family horse, trail/mountain horse, ranch horse. Ask and he’ll give. Great mind and handled daily.

👀 🏠 at weanling this fall.
Will have all his baby basics.

One of my favorite things is pulling into a trailhead with a trailer full of Gypsy Vanners. 😂

You can almost see the looks.
Those big hairy horses aren’t going to keep up.
They’re not going to make it very far.
They’re not built for this.
I’m speaking from my own experience here. I’ve spent the last four years packing Gypsy Vanners into the mountains, and if there’s one thing they’ve proven to me over and over again, it’s just how incredibly versatile this breed really is.

Some of these horses are only 3 and 4 years old, and they’ll cover a 16-mile round trip through the mountains over seven hours without a problem—and come back into camp still with plenty of energy and some get-up-and-go left.
But what impresses me just as much as their endurance is how they do it.
They do it quietly.

They’re agreeable. They’re sensible. They pick their way through rough country without making a big production out of it. They’ll cross water, navigate rocks and steep terrain, carry a rider for miles, and just keep doing their job.
These horses will PACK.
They cover ground. They’re incredibly sure-footed. They’re hardy. Most of ours do it barefoot. And at the end of a long day, you still have a horse underneath you.

That’s one of the things I love most about the Gypsy Vanner: versatility.
They’re beautiful enough to turn heads.
Quiet enough for amateurs.
Athletic enough to go show.
Strong enough to work.
And hardy enough to head into the mountains and put in some serious miles.
Four years of taking these horses into the mountains has made me appreciate this breed in an entirely different way.

They may not look like your “typical” mountain horse when we unload at the trailhead…

But give them 16 miles and seven hours, and they’ll change your mind.
