Hard to believe it’s been a week…💔
•
We had to say so long to Mary Jane last week and it was horrible. It was fast, unexpected and devastating. She ingested a piece of a stuffed toy and it eventually caused an obstruction. She had emergency surgery last Tuesday and by Thursday afternoon we found out she was septic and filled with fluids. We couldn’t watch her suffer anymore so we made the really difficult decision to let her go to where there was no pain and suffering. We are very thankful to our vet who did everything they could to get her in fast and help make her better. Sadly, they can’t save them all. I can’t help but feel like I failed her. Spent the last week questioning myself and wondering if I could have done something earlier…better…safer… this is a pain I’ll live with for ever. We spent her last few days with her on a mattress on the floor so she’d be comfortable. We really thought she’d recover and be ok.

We were blessed with 1.5 yrs with Mary Jane. It was long enough to know she was the sweetest, most cuddly and gentle soul there ever was. But, it wasn’t long enough. From the first snuggle (first pic) to the last kiss goodbye, we loved her with all of our hearts. There’s no doubt she made our lives better with all of her love. She was with me all day every day while she was with us, my sidekick! She touched so many people in her short journey on earth. Everyone she met fell in love with her. She didn’t care who you were or what you’d done in the past…she was there for the petting and scritches. She never met a stranger, everyone was her friend. To have known her, was to know true unconditional love.
