I would like to draw attention to a cost of doing business that I don't think people really associate with what we do.

I am not currently considering a fuel surcharge. Nor am I considering raising our rates. But doing business is costing more and more, and somewhere we have to find a way to keep it going.

The best current option that we have is better route planning. I'm sure a lot of people will point that one out. And of course it is on my radar. We already try our best to make sure that routes work for everybody, while also making the most sense for time and cost of travel. But that's not always a simple as it seems.

This really only affects me as most of the team have clear and defined areas of operation that are close to home. And I try to my best to make their lives as convenient as possible. Then I take everything else. Which does lead to some, let's say "wasteful" routes.

This is going to be an ongoing concern forever. I highly doubt that we're going to see any relief anywhere regarding costs for anything. That's my pessimism talking 😅 So I will continue to just roll with it and make things work for as long as possible.
