So I thought it was time to show my face on this page too!

Choosing a puppy is so much more than picking a color and gender you want.

Something a lot of people overlook is: picking a BREEDER!

The breeder you trust shapes so much of your dog’s future, from their health and temperament to the foundation they receive in those first weeks of life. A truly responsible breeder cares deeply about their dogs, breeds with purpose and integrity, and remains committed to the puppies long after they leave their home.

Take your time to get to know the breeders in your area. Attend dog shows, ask questions, and choose the breeder as carefully as you choose your puppy.

Here are some questions to ask:
1. Are the dogs registered? Will the puppies be registered? Is there a non-breeding contract?
2. Are the parents health tested? OFA/CHIC done? What are the age of parents?
3. Am I able to see where the puppies grow up as well as meet the parents?
4. How are the puppies raised and socialized when growing up?
5. How do you match the puppies to new families?
6. What health guarantee do you provide with the puppy?
7. What happens if I am ever unable to keep them? Would you take a dog back?
8. Can you provide references from previous families?
9. What are you looking for in potential families?
10. Why do you breed dogs? What got you started and keeps you motivated?

Anyways, that is my little rant behind choosing a breeder. I could go on for days...

That below is me, my face, and the person raising your potential future family member. And while my husband, kids, and even some others help me out on the daily, breeding quality dogs is my passion, and I am the person behind Gellert Kennel.

So choose the breeder first, the right puppy will follow 🩷

Good morning from the maternity ward, where 7 newborn Toy Poodle puppies have clocked in for their shift 🐾

Breakfast? Served.
Potty? Supervised.
Weights? Recorded.
Laundry? Already losing the battle.
Sleep? Never heard of her.
Happiness? All the time.

Just another totally normal morning in breeder life, but I wouldn't trade this for the world!🐶☕️

Now for my morning coffee, as editing this reel took just as long as the whole morning routine!

Maybe I should make this a series?

After keeping me on my toes for quite a while, Nova finally had her puppies this weekend. We both didn't get much sleep that night 😅

A week before I got her puppy count xray done. I was expecting 4 or 5 pups. I made the vet rexount 3 times as I did not believe she could have 7!

But she had 7 beautiful toy poodles, 5 boys and 2 girls. All silver/blue/blacks and one red/apricot boy. CKC registered.

Everybody is doing well and thriving. This will be my last poodle litter of the year, the 3 of this year came all close together! I will be spacing them out more next year. Planning for 3. One for Gucci, one for Heidi, and one end of year for Perci. Nova will be getting a nice long break after this litter 🩷

Nova is such an incredible mother, and she is taking care of all 7 with such care and attention 🥰

A little Sunday hike to end our weekend ❤️

A good example of our two different breeds. Angel (the MAS) needs daily stimulation and exercise to be truly happy. She did phenomenal on our 8km hike.

The mini poodle is my parents' dog, a previous puppy from Gucci and Tobey now fully grown. He is happy to relax inside on a slow day and just cuddle up, but he glows when we take him with us.

Both versatile breeds, that's why we love them! ☺️

Sadly with 4 kids in tow we can't take all the dogs with us, but they are on rotation on who gets to spend time with us going to parks, running errands, camping, and on day hikes so everybody has fun!

1 more girl still has her suitcase left without a final destination.

They had baths and a trim yesterday, and of course lots of snuggles. I am enjoying these pups so much 🩷

And just like that, all too soon, the berry litter has started to get picked up!

I keep catching myself feeling like someone is missing, and always second guessing myself when I count the puppies when they come inside.

Only 3 left, and the house already feels so empty! The others will fly the coop soon too. Until then I will enjoy all the extra snuggles I can get!

I got an update from sweet Tilly. She was from our Willow x Rio litter. She is now fully grown and loving the cabin life. What a gorgeous girl!

It always makes my day to see updates from previous puppies. To hear of them loving life, travelling, or simply some updates with pictures.

It makes my work and effort worth it. Because in the end its the new families that get to enjoy my puppy for their lifetime. And it is always nice to see how the puppies grow up and mature.

It was a busy day for us. We took 2 poodles and 4 mini americans on the ferry to Vancouver Island. They had their CAER eye exams to complete their OFA/CHIC certifications.

All passed with flying colors!

Then a stroll along the ocean to stretch our legs before we head back home ☺️
