Pupdate:

It's 24 hours post surgery and she's doing well. The surgical site is way less swollen than the first time and the vet said it went well.

Yesterday was rough as she wouldn't settle and was very agitated but that's normal after anesthesia.

She ate, drank and had her greenie this morning. Now we just need to do a p**p dance 💩💩

Unfortunately it's time and Monday is her enucleation surgery. Her vet even said she's surprised by how bad her eye got ...

Paws crossed all goes smoothly. In the meantime she has her emotional support chicken.

Got a bit of p**py news on Friday.

Penny woke up Friday morning completely blind in her remaining eye, along with cloudiness and discomfort, so off we went immediately to her regular vet. The primary (genetic) glaucoma she had in her removed eye is now in her remaining eye and the ocular pressure was in the 80's, normal being between 10 and 20. So we went to the emergency vet, where there is an optometrist, and by then the pressure was in the 90's. They did manage to get it down into the 60's using various eye drops. They also discovered an ulcer and corneal bullae (blisters).

She's on 2 eyedrops, an antibiotic ointment for the ulcer and gabapentin for pain if needed.

We knew this was going to happen 6 months to two years after the discovery of glaucoma in the first eye and she managed to have 2 years and 8 months before glaucoma set in.

The eye will need to come out eventually. A visit to the vet today for a follow up pressure check shows it down in the 40's but the eye nor her vision can't be saved; glaucoma isn't reversible or treatable once blindness sets in. We've just got a bit of time to plan.

Mom is now her "seeing eye hooman" and she's adapting fairly well to her new world. It will take time but we'll figure it out.

Mom took me to get a scaling today. She doesn't want me under anesthetic again so we tried this and this place was recommended by my groomer. She wrapped me up like a burrito and I p**ped on her towel and left a nice smell but it was quick and my toofies are clean.
