Ask a trainer: real timelines, costs, and your role. Curious about how long a custom dog program takes, what it costs, and what you’ll actually need to do? I’ve answered the common questions I hear from Regina dog owners — straight, practical, and local.

• Timelines: Puppies grow and change so quickly and behaviour is alway evolving. Noticeable changes can happen in 2-4 weeks with consistent sessions and daily practice, but with the right focus you can often see changes each day. For emotionally motivated behaviours like fear or aggression, expect a longer plan — typically 3–6 months of gradual, measured work.

• Your role: You’re the change agent. I’ll guide, set the plan, and coach you through techniques, but your daily practice, consistency, and follow-through make progress stick. Short sessions at home every day beat occasional long sessions.

• Costs: I offer budget-flexible packages — single sessions, short programs, and full custom plans. Packages are priced to match the level of support you need: a one-off consult for a quick tune-up, multi-session plans for habit-building, and extended support for serious behavior work.

As a Regina-based trainer, I bring local experience and practical steps tailored to our community. Want a quick chat to see what fits your dog and budget? Visit https://prdogz.com to book a consult.

Myth vs. Fact for Regina dog owners: let’s clear this up. 🐾

Slide 1 — Myth: “Aggression means my dog’s dangerous.”
Fact: Aggression usually signals fear, confusion, or unmet needs. I assess triggers, then use gradual desensitization and clear reward markers so your dog learns safety instead of stress.

Slide 2 — Myth: “Leash reactivity is just bad behavior.”
Fact: It’s often overarousal or poor skill-building. I teach threshold work and short, frequent training sessions so walks become predictable and calm—skills you can practice right away on Regina streets.

Slide 3 — Myth: “House-soiling is spite or dominance.”
Fact: Medical issues, anxiety, or inconsistent routines are usually the cause. I combine vet-screen guidance, schedule adjustments, and positive reinforcement so you’ll see steady improvements in days, not weeks.

🌱 The Secret to Calmer Spring Walks? Start Inside. 🐕

When people think about training a reactive dog, they often picture working outside on busy sidewalks or at the park.

But here’s something many dog owners don’t realize:

Some of the most important reactivity training starts inside your home.

Your living room is where you can begin building the foundational skills your dog will need before facing the distractions of the outside world.

Inside the house is the perfect place to practice:
✔️ Your dog responding to their name
✔️ Checking in with you voluntarily
✔️ Settling and relaxing
✔️ Simple focus and pattern games

These may seem like small skills, but they are powerful building blocks. They teach your dog how to stay connected to you, regulate their emotions, and make good choices.

When you eventually take those skills outside, your dog isn’t learning them for the first time in a busy environment — they’re simply using skills they already understand.

That foundation can make a huge difference when the neighbourhood gets busier and spring walks return. 🌷

Calmer walks don’t start on the sidewalk — they start in your living room.

🌷 Spring Walks Start Now 🐕

If you share your life with a reactive dog, you know that warmer weather can bring mixed feelings. Longer days and melting snow mean more people, more dogs, and busier sidewalks.

But here’s the good news: spring success starts before spring arrives.

The quieter weeks at the end of winter are the perfect time to start building skills that will make spring walks easier. And something many people are surprised to learn is that reactivity training often starts inside the house.

Before we ask our dogs to stay calm around the busy, unpredictable outside world, we can begin by practicing things like:
✔️ Checking in with you
✔️ Responding to their name
✔️ Relaxation and calm behaviour
✔️ Pattern games and focus exercises

These foundational skills help your dog learn how to regulate themselves and stay connected to you, so when you do take those skills outside, they already have a starting point.

Small, consistent practice now can make a huge difference when the parks and pathways fill up again.

Imagine heading into spring with a dog who feels a little more confident… and walks that feel a little more peaceful. 🌱

You don’t have to wait for the chaos of spring to start training.
Sometimes the first step to calmer walks begins right in your living room.

Think your pup will just “grow out of it”? Or that they’re being “dominant”? Those myths often keep Regina owners from getting help — and slow progress. I’m Coral, CCPDT-certified, and I’ve seen what works in our city’s winters, apartments, and busy schedules. Myth 1: “Puppies outgrow aggression.” Reality: Early intervention with positive, science-backed training prevents escalation. Short, consistent sessions fit Regina routines—after a cold walk or between errands. Myth 2: “It’s dominance.” Reality: Most problem behaviors come from fear, confusion, or lack of guidance. Replace punishment with clear cues, predictable structure, and reward-based changes. Myth 3: “We don’t have time.” Reality: Small, daily practices (5–10 minutes) stack up fast; building habits around school runs or lunch breaks works in small homes and apartments. If you’re juggling work, winter walks, or limited space in Regina, I’ll help you create practical steps that fit your life. Ready to take the guesswork out of behavior?
