Our Last Hope Animal Rescue Society Our Last Hope Animal Rescue Society is a registered non-profit organization in the province of BC. Se Fulfilling dreams for families in British Columbia.

We are a BC Registered Non-Profit animal rescue society making a difference in the lives of dogs and their new owners. We are passionate about matching dogs to their owners for the best possible success of both. Our team of volunteers come from varied backgrounds and walks of life, but all unite with a love for animals. Our Mission...

To promote, protect, rehabilitate and responsibly re-home society's discarded companion animals. To educate pet owners and others about the proper care and well-being of their pets. We promote and assist this with a low cost spay and neuter program. Our program is unique in the Upper Fraser Valley as there is no other similar; furthermore, we collaborate with the First Nations communities in the environs. Our programs have been well received. We have a Senior-to-Senior program within our program, that matches senior pets with senior citizens, thereby giving them companionship and purpose, the benefits of which have been proven by extensive research. Now serving the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen. We take pride in assessing each and every animal that enters our rescue. For this reason when we state particular requirements and do so as not to set our rescues or families up for failure. We do not just ship an animal to our rescue and flip in within hours of arrival. That is NOT rescue. Each of our rescues leave us behaviorally sound and healthily. Those who need to stay longer do. No one should have to take pity on the condition of a rescue dog if the rescue has done their job properly. We love what we do for both the animals we care for and the people/communities we serve. You can't buy love but you can rescue it!

❤️ WHAT A FABULOUS DAY AT BOSLEY’S! 🐾

Yesterday we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating the adoptions of Wilbur, Mikey, Miley and Sally — four more beautiful dogs off to their forever homes! ❤️

We were also incredibly grateful to be presented with over $2,000 raised during PAW Month by the amazing teams and customers at Bosley’s Glenmore and Lakeshore Kelowna stores.

We are truly grateful to be part of such an amazing community and surrounded by so many people who share our love for animals.

Every adoption, every donation and every person who supports us helps Our Last Hope Animal Rescue Society continue saving one little life at a time. 🐾❤️

From all of us at Our Last Hope — THANK YOU!

❤️ MEET SWEET SALLY ❤️

Sally is a beautiful one-year-old Border Collie cross, approximately 50 lbs, and the incredible mama of 12 puppies.

Sally had found what we hoped would be her forever home through a foster-to-adopt placement. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected and urgent change in her foster family’s circumstances, Sally has come back into rescue through absolutely no fault of her own.

This sweet girl became a mother while she was still practically a puppy herself. She missed out on so much of her own puppyhood raising her babies, and now that her job as Mama is finished, it’s finally Sally’s turn.

And boy, is she making up for lost time!

Sally is playful, dog-friendly, submissive, obedient and beautifully well-balanced. She LOVES romping around with other dogs, especially dogs around her own size, and she’s discovered the joy of playing fetch.

She walks beautifully on leash, travels well in the car and is learning what life inside a home is all about. Take her through a crowd and she’ll happily work her way around collecting every pet and bit of attention she can get. ❤️

Sally is simply kind and gentle. She would thrive in a home with another playful dog to romp, wrestle and conspire with.

In a very short time, Sally has become not only a rescue favourite, but a favourite in our community. There is just something incredibly special about this girl.

She gave everything to her 12 babies.

Now it’s Sally’s turn to have someone give everything to her.

Please consider giving this wonderful young dog the life she deserves. ❤️

NOT ALL HEROES WALKED ON TWO LEGS. 🇺🇸🐾

At 9:11 this morning, we remember the brave K-9s who searched through the devastation of Ground Zero. Through the rubble, smoke and heartbreak, they worked tirelessly beside first responders—bringing hope and comfort during America’s darkest hours.

Twenty-five years later, their courage and service have not been forgotten.

Forever heroes. Always remembered. ❤️

25 HORSES GOT LUCKY. HOW MANY OTHERS DIDN’T?

On September 2, New York State Police stopped a livestock trailer carrying 25 horses headed to Quebec for slaughter for human consumption.

Read that again: Canada. For human consumption.

Those 25 horses are alive today because New York has a law against transporting horses for slaughter — and this time, authorities ENFORCED IT.

But Canadians need to understand the uncomfortable truth: horse slaughter is still happening in our country. American horses are being shipped across our border to be killed here. Horse meat is processed in Canada, some is consumed here, and much of it enters the international meat trade.

According to investigators who have followed this pipeline for years, this particular route has taken horses from Pennsylvania through New York to the Viande Richelieu slaughter plant in Quebec.

These 25 were saved. They are now receiving veterinary care and are expected to be offered for adoption.

But they were the lucky ones.

As an animal rescue, we cannot scream about cruelty when it involves dogs and then look the other way because the animal happens to be a horse.

Canada, we need to talk about this.

How many Canadians even knew horses were being trucked across our border to be slaughtered for human consumption?

Because I sure as hell think they should know.
