๐Ÿ‘More Than Just a Haircut: Why annual shearing is essential for sheep welfare!

โ€‹As the weather warms up, itโ€™s time to talk about one of the most critical events on the flock calendar: annual shearing. While a freshly shorn sheep looks great, shearing is far from a cosmetic luxury. For modern sheep breeds, regular shearing is a fundamental health and welfare requirement. Unlike wild sheep, domestic breeds have evolved to grow wool continuously, meaning they rely entirely on us to take it off.

Here are some reasons why yearly shearing is important;
-Beating the Heat(Thermoregulation)
-Flystrike Prevention
-Mobility and Blindness
-Body Condition and Parasite checks!

These sheep were unfortunately missed for a few years, but we were happy to help their new owners get them cleaned up!

Check out the side by side before and after picture at the end!
