The palatants are doing their job.

This is just humour, I'm sure many dogs are perfectly content with their kibbles. That's amazing food science innovation right there, palatant powders and sprays tricking their nose into thinking this is a high protein and fat meal (which is what they are naturally attracted to).

Recurring ear infections often start in the bowl.

More interesting, it's rarely directly related to the ears, yeast issues instead come from:

• high starch diets
• food sensitivities (leaky gut)
• low omega-3/ poor-quality fats
• gut inflammation

Fix the food → fix the ears.

It's unfortunately pretty common 👇🏻

ZINC OXIDE and all other oxide supplements.

When a brand charges high prices and uses the CHEAPEST and LEAST bioavailable form of supplements available... It turns me right off and makes me question their priorities.

Not dangerous per se, just more likely to be contaminated with heavy metals than other types of higher quality supplements.

Chronic diarrhea isn’t normal — or random.

What actually fixed fit:

• structured elimination diet
• hydration + electrolytes
• specific soluble fibers
• glutamine
• marine omega-3s
• low-inflammatory proteins
• controlled fat intake

How are we still having this debate?

How have we been convinced that wheat rice potatoes aren't fillers?

How have we been convinced that a "tolerable" amount of mycotoxins, glyphosates and heavy metals in our pet's food is acceptable?

How have we been convinced that giving one food for the rest of their life was optimal?

I have nothing against (most), kibble, but let's get real: no kibble is an optimal diet for a long healthy life so let's reduce as much ultra processed diets for less processed but still nutritionally balanced diet as possible, if not possible then let's add on strategic toppers!

Some principles are the same 👇🏻

Honestly it's all about nutrient targets (feeding mode, method and timing will be totally different).

High protein
Low medium fat
Low carb

Real talk:

The entire vet clinic - vet food brand - vet education, training and credit system is BROKEN and BIASED.

What you SHOULD judge:

✔ protein quality
✔ omega-3 levels
✔ carb load
✔ ingredient transparency
✔ digestibility testing

I have and continue to work with many wonderful vets, so I am generalizing here. But it needs to be said.
