They waited their whole lives for someone to love them.
Meet Rex and Princess — two innocent souls from Romania who only ever had each other.
They are just 2 years old. Sterilized. Gentle. Quiet. Wonderful with children, dogs, and even cats.
But their lives before this were unimaginable.
Since they were puppies, they lived chained outside in a yard. A chain so short they could barely move. No warm bed. No toys. No affection. No kindness. Just dirt, cold, loneliness… and each other.
Then one day, their owners became too sick to care for them.
And Rex and Princess were forgotten.
Someone was supposedly paid to feed them, but many days nobody came. They waited and waited, hungry, confused, staring at the gate hoping someone would remember they were alive.
Nobody came.
Weeks passed.
They slowly starved.
By the time volunteers reached them, they were barely recognizable as dogs anymore. Just skin, bones, and sadness. Two terrified souls still lying beside each other, too weak to understand why the world had abandoned them.
And yet… they still wagged their tails.
They still trusted.
That is the part that broke me the most.
After everything humans had done to them, they still looked at people with hope in their eyes.
This beautiful soul of a human Monica could not leave them there to die.
She moved them into foster care and paid for everything just to help them survive. From December until April she desperately searched for a home for them, contacting rescues across Romania, France, Germany, and the UK.
Thousands of messages sent, Thousands of emails ignored.
Nobody wanted them.
Not once did she stop trying.
Eventually she decided to try and get them here to Canada.
The journey was heartbreaking.
Because flights could not be arranged together, they traveled for 3 days by ground transport all the way to Frankfurt. After a lifetime spent chained in one small spot, suddenly the world became enormous and terrifying.
She flew there to meet them and For 5 days they stayed together in a hotel before returning to Canada. During that time, they experienced life for the very first time.
Sliding doors terrified them.
Elevators confused them.
Stairs made them freeze in fear.
Simple things most dogs learn as puppies were completely unknown to them.
The fear in their eyes she explains she will never forget it.
Every loud sound made them flinch.
Every sudden movement made them scared.
But every gentle touch made them melt.
All they ever wanted was love.
Not food.
Not toys.
Not comfort.
Just love.
Despite being beaten, neglected, chained, and starved almost to death… Rex and Princess remain two of the most loving dogs I have ever met.
They sleep beside each other every night because they are all they had for so long.
And now, after surviving hell together, they deserve a real family together too.
A home where nobody will ever abandon them again.
A home where they will never know hunger again.
A home where they can finally rest and understand they are safe.
They are now with me in Montreal in our DoggyINNstyle home, waiting for someone to see them not as broken dogs… but as survivors.
We have them in our home with multiple dogs, two young children and two cats. They still have so many obstacles to overcome but are truly the sweetest souls who deserve this second chance ❤️
I truly hope to rehome this bonded pair TOGETHER. They have already been through so much and they’re two years of life that no one or no animal should ever go through, I just want them to get their happy forever after
We won’t share too much horror but here are some pictures of their before journey to now…
From locked into a concrete room to starve to a hotel bed… flights and now a warm loving foster ❤️❤️
Please help us find the ending they deserve.
Please share their story.
Somewhere out there, their family is hopefully reading this right now. ❤️
