🐾 LOCATION UPDATE 🐾

Our move date has changed!

We had originally planned to begin grooming from inside the house on August 25, but that date has been pushed back while we wait for our brand-new grooming tub, which is expected to arrive September 1.

We were originally going to use a room in the basement, but then thought that would not be good for dogs who dislike or are unable to do stairs. So we have now decided to go back to our original space that we started from, many moons ago. Located right at the side door.

Until the new space is ready, please continue coming to the shop as usual. We’ll let everyone know when the official changeover date is confirmed.

ONCE WE MOVE INSIDE

🚪 Please come to the side door and arrive at your scheduled appointment time.

🐾 Our grooming routine is not changing. We will continue with the same one-on-one grooming process — this is simply a change in location.

✂️ Nail Trim Clients
When we originally thought we would be moving into the basement, we had asked nail-trim clients to remain in their vehicles because we did not want people having to come through our home to reach the grooming area.

Our new grooming room is accessible directly from the side door, so if you have always come in with your dog for their nail trim, you are welcome to continue doing so and stay to comfort your dog.

🏠 One small request:
Our new grooming room is considerably smaller than the shop, so please limit the number of people coming inside with your dog whenever possible.

A little Big Dog Update 🐾

EFFECTIVE SEPT 1, 2026, not AUGUST 25, 2026 as planned as we are waiting on a brand new tub!

Well… apparently even dog grooming comes with a lesson in municipal zoning. 😅

We were recently informed by By-law that, because Big Dog is considered a home-based business, we are permitted to operate from our home — but not from the detached shop at the back of our property. Someone complained, rather than choosing to have an adult conversation with us. Unfortunately, their intention was to have us close down for good. We are not going to let this person win. Guess the howling of huskies getting groomed was too much for their liking. 😂

Rather than fighting the township, we are moving Big Dog Grooming into the house and creating a dedicated grooming space specifically for our four-legged clients.

The “new” space will still have everything we need — a proper grooming tub, grooming table, organized equipment and supplies, towel storage and, most importantly, the same quiet, one-on-one grooming environment Big Dog has always offered.

It wasn’t a move we had planned on making, but we adapt. And apparently, sometimes we adapt by moving a grooming table a few feet closer to the house. 😂

For our clients, very little changes. Appointments are continuing, we are still grooming, and you’ll still bring your dog to the same property.

For nail trim appointments, we kindly ask that owners return to their vehicle and wait while we take care of their dog. Since grooming is now taking place inside our home, we’d like to keep foot traffic through the house to a minimum.

Our own dogs will be kept separate and not in the same area as yours, still guaranteeing a one-on-one experience.

🐾 Well, would you look at that… our Big Dog pack has officially grown to 400 followers! ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who follows our page, shares our posts, recommends us to friends and family, leaves a kind comment, and—most importantly—trusts us with your four-legged family members.

Big dogs, little dogs, fluffy dogs, short-haired dogs, young pups, seniors, wiggle butts and the occasional “I would rather be anywhere else than getting my nails done” dog… 😂 We’re grateful for every single one of them.

Looking to get your pup groomed? We have only a small number of appointments available over the next couple of weeks—and they will fill quickly! Normally we are booked out 3 weeks but due to summer vacations, we have some availability sooner.

There’s just something special about a Sheltie.

❤️ Meet Caillie (see photo) , a senior pup at 11 years old. Sweet as ever!

Shelties’ have beautiful flowing coats, expressive faces, and intelligent personalities make them such a joy to groom. They’re incredibly loyal, eager to please, and always seem to have a sweet, gentle nature.

Their gorgeous double coat does require regular brushing and professional grooming to keep it healthy, free of mats, and looking its best. A consistent grooming schedule also helps reduce shedding and keeps their skin and coat in great condition.

Every Sheltie has their own unique personality, and it’s always a pleasure getting to spend time with these beautiful dogs. They truly are a wonderful breed!
