Happy Sunday everyone! I’ve had lots of new followers lately, along with quite a few questions about my pet sitting services! So I thought I’d put everything together in one place! 🤗
Hopefully this helps answer some of your questions and gives you a better idea of what I offer and how pet sitting with me works 🏡
🐾 How My Pet Sitting Services Work 🐾
I offer two different options for pet sitting: pet sitting at my acreage or in-home pet sitting at your home. I’m a home based business rather than a kennel or traditional daycare, so my goal is always to make pets feel comfortable, included, and at home while you’re away.
🌾 Pet Sitting at My Acreage
When pets stay with me, they are treated like family! They have free access to the house, couches, beds, and all the usual comforts of home. I do have crates available for dogs who are crate trained and are comfortable using one.
I don’t have a fenced dog area, so dogs who aren’t reliable off leash are still able to enjoy lots of freedom with long leads and retractable leashes.
Our acreage is a family oriented home. We have four kids (13, 9, 8 and 6), four dogs (a German Shepherd, two Great Pyrenees and a Husky/Lab mix), and I usually have a foster dog in the home. We also have horses and chickens. The chickens are securely fenced, and I introduce visiting dogs to the horses so they know they’re there and aren’t startled by them.
I also walk dogs regularly during the week, so I am typically out of the house from around 9 AM until 2–3 PM, depending on the day. Dogs are welcome to come along with me for walks when appropriate, or they can stay home.
🏡 In-Home Pet Sitting
I also offer in-home pet sitting, where I stay in your home with your pets while you’re away.
This can be an especially great option for:
* Dogs who experience anxiety
* Dogs who are more comfortable in their own environment
* Dogs that are not dog or kid friendly
* Multi-pet households
* Pets who have specific routines or need a little extra one on one attention.
The goal is to keep your pets routine as normal as possible while you’re away, with the added comfort of having someone stay with them in their own home.
🐕 Meet & Greets for Acreage Stays
For dogs staying at my acreage, I require two meet & greets.
The first meet & greet is at your home. This gives us a chance to meet, go over your pets routines and needs, answer questions, and make sure we both feel that it’s a good fit.
The second meet & greet is at my acreage. I bring your dogs out for a meet and greet with my dogs to ensure everyone gets along. After doing this for the past couple of years, I’ve found this approach works much better for everyone. Introducing new dogs while their owners are also present can create extra excitement and stress, which can sometimes make a meet & greet go poorly even when the dogs would otherwise get along great.
I completely understand that leaving your dog somewhere new can feel nerve wracking, so I’m always happy to provide references from clients who have gone through this process with me.
If you have any questions about either option or would like to set up a meet & greet, just send me a message! 😊
