It was a long but rewarding day at the IPE in Armstrong!

Highlights

⭐️Kidnapped Just In Time EX90 was awarded senior champion toggenburg and beat Kidnapped N KissMeNot EX90 in champion challenge to claim the Best of Breed title.
⭐️Kidnapped For A Kalimeris 2*M EX90 snuck past some serious competition to grab La Mancha Senior champion title but was bested by GCH BNH Livestock Hazelnut Latte *M VG89 in champion challenge. Latte also helped her small human place 4th in a big class of 6 in novice showmanship this morning.
⭐️ Kidnapped La VallaWho *M was awarded senior champion recorded grade, competition was stiff even though classes were small.

By supper time there were does sleeping in feed piles, sleeping on each other, sleeping standing up and one or two that just wouldn’t quit begging for pets from the crowd in the barns.

Kidnapped For A Pint came west with us this week to move to his new home and the lucky devil gets to hang out at the fair all week convincing unknowing civilians to pet him 😂

The does definitely benefitted from arriving earlier than last year in Armstrong. Everyone was well settled in yesterday.
Even the mature toggs were following cues from neighboring Key Hill Nigerian dwarfs and were socializing with people!

One of my favourite parts of milking routine right now -
This udder wash is easy to mix, super inexpensive to purchase and is really helping with skin health for the does.

I’m seeing no dry skin, no rashes, no chafing this year. This, along with our post-milking teat dip, are helping keep SCC numbers low and we’ve eliminated those pesky staph based skin infections that used to plague some of the does!

The cooler nights have brought on the heat cycles in the mature does and the doe kids have better appetites as well now that it’s not sweltering hot during the days.
Thankfully the onset of heat cycles haven’t affected milk production much.

We did our 3rd official test for *P last week and there are multiple does with projections over 1000kg this lactation. Go girls go!
