🐴 What We Recommend — “Bio-Sec for Barn & Event Season”

🚨 EHV-1 / EHM UPDATE — Alberta 🚨
There are TWO confirmed EHM (neurologic EHV-1) case in Alberta.
Good news — but we need to stay careful!

✅ Practice strict biosecurity at your barns and when attending events — no sharing of water or feed buckets, tack, grooming supplies, etc.; disinfect and clean; manage human/horse traffic carefully.

✅ Temperature-check and monitor your horse’s health before travelling or attending events. If your horse has a fever, cough or any signs of illness — keep it home. 

✅ Self-quarantine for 2 weeks if you are returning from the United States (especially from regions with high incidence of EHV-1/EHM) before re-introducing your horse to other barns or events.

✅ Isolate and monitor any horse returning from an event (or from out of province/state) for at least 14 days, even if initially healthy.

✅ Call your veterinarian immediately if you see any neurologic signs (incoordination, recumbency, tail-tone loss, urine dribbling, weakness) or respiratory illness — early detection and prompt isolation are critical.

Casual and weekend staff

Duties include:
Feeding, blanketing and turning out horses
Cleaning and bedding stalls
General tidying

Must be:
Experienced and passionate about working with horses
Able to lift up to 70lbs
Operate equipment
Attentive to details and self motivated.
