Small town parade day. It went mostly ok but Zeus doesn't like things being drug behind the golf cart. Anja and Voodoo saved the day by catching Zeus. Vivid got a pretty good scrape on her hock when she slipped due to Zeus' panic moment. We're all home and good now!

Last minute, we are taking some horses in the parade tomorrow in case I didn't let everyone know. It's a good desensitization experience if any others care to join. I haven't decided if we will walk there or trailer. Some girls are coming around 9am to braid and make horses look beautiful.

We chased a black bear and her cub off the property this morning. They were snacking on roadkill towards the West, a ways away from the horses. It seems like they are moving along now.

Soon I'll put my first ride on Serendipity...but first let's see if the cat survives.

For June/July, I am taking a week of summer break. There are no lessons the week of July 29-July 3. I've got to go pick up Moonlight and spend time with family. This does not affect 4 lesson weeks offered June and July.

Same in the fall, I'll be away Sept 28-Oct 2nd to hopefully ride for a few days in the mountains.

Normally we guarantee one makeup time per month but we are normally more accommodating over summer due to holidays and will offer what we can to keep our students riding 4 lessons per month. Some students have requested a different time over summer.

FYI will be hauling to the Grasswood Horse Park the next couple weeks to practice for the buckle series. Talk to me if interested. Also, let me know if there are riders interested in the Borden parade this Saturday.

Proof the eyes, seat and legs steer the horse better than the reins! Thunder has learned to read people and discern who will make him work, the job of any lesson horse (in his mind).

Miracles happen when there is less dependence on the rider's hands that hold the reins. The horse is happier too and will probably listen better.

I got on Thunder to tune him up, but he still remembers how to steer, even without a bridle on.

Don't say appaloosa, say knabstrupper. I didn't even know this breed existed until a year ago! It's not even about colour for me - a good horse is a good horse no matter the colour. Knabstruppers are known to be intelligent, athletic and trainable. They're also a very healthy breed.

It's been a lot of anxiety getting Moonlight to Canada. I've had little luck communicating well with the agents and the transport companies involved - I barely knew when she would get here. The bank was also a nightmare - they even doubled a transfer by mistake. I didn't sleep last night knowing she was in a tiny space on a plane, and then a text this morning "so cute".

Like what?

TELL ME HOW SHE IS!

BUT she's here in one piece, headed for another long quarantine period.

She is the most significant addition to our breeding program.
