Yesterday, Scout celebrated his birthday with his daycare friends! His mom brought a special cake for him & birthday cookies for all the daycare dogs to enjoy 🎉

We’re so proud of Nugget & the progress she’s made 💛

Thank you to her foster, Coralie, & Next Chapter Animal Rescue League for trusting us to be part of her journey. It’s been so special watching Nugget grow more comfortable around other dogs & begin to show curiosity where she once felt unsure.

We’re cheering you on Nugget! 💓

A part of rescue that isn't always talked about is the behavioural side.

So many of the animals that come into our care, are here because they have been surrendered due to them having behavioural issues - have that be separation anxiety, food or leash aggression or dog aggression.

When we are able to, and when the funds allow it, we try and go above and beyond for the pets in our care.

Nugget is one of those. Her birthday is November 29, 2025.
She came into care on February 15, 2026 and she's been in foster care ever since.

Her foster noticed that she was having trouble fitting in with her doggy friends - which, for many families would be a giant red flag.

But instead of giving up on her, her foster, Coralie, decided to bring her to Passionate Paws - a structured day care, where she was able to work on her social skills and has made HUGE strides with the help of Adrienne and the other ladies there.

We're so proud of our girl - who used to growl and bite at any new dog she came around. Now, she's still guarded around them, but shows curiousity instead of fear - a huge accomplishment for Nugget!

This behavioural issue, that once might have been a red flag, has become something that is definitely manageable!

Her new home is going to have to show some patience and compassion for Nugget - introducing her slow and under supervision to other dogs in the home - because we know she can make friends - just on her own timeline and terms!

(Nugget is great with people and kids, so no worries about that!)

Okay, so apparently Back to School season is almost over & we are just now getting around to releasing the class photos 😂📚🐾

In our defence…the students have been VERY busy.

There have been friendships to manage.
Zoomies to schedule.
Opinions to express.
Confidence to build.
Rules to occasionally acknowledge.
Struggle buses to board.
Teachers to supervise.
& an absolutely unreasonable amount of important dog business to conduct.

So please allow us to present the Passionate Paws Structured Daycare crew "Back To School Photos" 🐾

& what a class we have.

We’ve got class sweethearts, busy bodies, professional supervisors, go getters, party animals, sensitive souls, tiny dogs with executive level confidence & several students who appear to believe Ms. Madison is actually their employee 😂

Some came to school ready to conquer the world.

Some needed a little help deciding the world wasn’t quite as suspicious as originally reported.

Some are working on slowing their brains down long enough to learn something.

Some are gaining confidence, learning better social skills & figuring out how to navigate life with a little more composure.

& some arrived with enough confidence for the entire graduating class and have graciously offered to distribute the excess 😂

But THAT is exactly what Structured Daycare is about.

It isn’t just dogs running around together all day.

It’s learning. Playing. Resting. Exploring. Building confidence. Practicing boundaries. Developing appropriate social skills. Learning how to exist around other dogs without needing to be involved in absolutely everything.

Every dog gets to be exactly who they are while we help them become an even better version of themselves.

So yes, our Back to School post is arriving when September is basically packing its bags.

We prefer to call it fashionably late 😁

Coffee & Community ☕🐾

Join us for a casual morning of coffee, dogs, settling & good conversation with two dog trainers - Adrienne & Madison!

Grab a coffee (supplied), bring your dog, practice being around distractions without having to go anywhere, & chat with other dog people in the community.

No pack walk. No big agenda. No pressure. Just coffee, dogs & community ☕🐶

📍 At the facility - 5372 Len Thompson Drive, Bay 11, Lacombe

Reactive dogs are welcome, but must be manageable in a group setting. Dogs should have a basic foundation of training.

Come hang out, ask questions, drink some coffee, & maybe teach your dog that doing absolutely nothing can actually be pretty cool 😎

Apparently, we have a guest list like we’re running a very exclusive dog nightclub where you only get back in when Madison calls your name 😂

Potty break is done & it’s time to head back inside. But we’re not opening the door & unleashing the entire crew at once.

Madison calls each dog by name, one at a time, & brings them in calmly.

It’s simple, but it’s intentional. We’re reinforcing listening, patience, impulse control & calm transitions throughout their day.

Because these everyday moments are where the real learning happens. We want dogs who can be excited, have fun, play hard & still know how to come back down, listen & follow direction when it matters.
