Stormy says she is driving for the day to help with appointments.

🐾 SO YOU’RE GETTING INTO DOGS… WELL, BLESS YOUR HEART. 😂
Come on in, sugar. We’ve been expecting you. Go ahead and leave your money, free time and common sense at the door.
First thing you need to understand: you’re about to give up half your house and your entire life savings. The other half of the house will eventually go too—we just don’t want to scare you right off the bat.
And you better build some storage.
Because somehow 6 dogs require 30 crates, 60 bowls, 100 leashes, 47 collars, 14 grooming bags, 12 dog beds nobody sleeps in and one crate pan from 1997.
Can you throw that crate pan away?
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
It might fit something someday.
Before long, your living room is a kennel with a couch. Your dining room table is a grooming station. Your spare bedroom is a puppy nursery. And you haven’t eaten at your kitchen table since the Bush administration because that’s where the dog supplies live now.
Then there’s the garage.
Lord have mercy.
One day you’ll open that door and realize you’re one concerned neighbor away from appearing on Hoarders: Dog Show Edition.
Crates stacked to the ceiling. X-pens multiplying when nobody is looking. Grooming tables, dryers, chairs, coolers, totes and enough ribbons to decorate every pew at the First Baptist Church.
Your husband will eventually ask:
“Where am I supposed to park?”
Outside, Earl.
The dogs have a climate-controlled grooming area. Know your place. 😂
And let’s discuss finances.
You’ll stand in Walmart and say, “$5.98 for eggs?! Have these people lost their minds?”
Then drive straight to the pet store and spend $238 on dog food, shampoo and some supplement you can’t pronounce because somebody on Facebook said it makes coat grow.
The dogs eat premium food, fresh eggs, blueberries and supplements.
You’re eating a bologna sandwich over the sink.
Because we’re on a budget.
Then every six months you’ll make the big announcement:
“I’m cutting back on dogs and taking a break from showing.”
Your family won’t even look up anymore.
They’ve heard this lie before.
Three days later the premium list drops and you’re sitting there with a calculator figuring out whether the electric company really meant Friday.

Zsa Zsa (Crossroads Pocket Full of Sunshine) - July 15, 2012 - July 18, 2026.

Zsa Zsa is Pipen's Mom. She lived with the Cyndy Erwel family since she was a pup. She leaves behind many amazing children, grandchildren, and so many more.

Thank you Zsa Zsa for my boy. I will forever miss your sweet nature and tolerance of me snuggling you and your puppies. May you have all the duck toys to play with at Rainbow Bridge.

CLIPPING DOUBLE COATED BREEDS

Here is a good quick reference for why double coated breeds are clipped for medical reasons.

Keeping your dog well brushed to the skin helps in their temperature regulation.

🐾 Nail Length & Its Impact on Canine Biomechanics

Have you checked your pet’s nails recently?
While this picture and most wording is Dog speci, poor nail maintenance crosses all pets

Long nails do more than just click on the floor—they can significantly influence your dog’s posture, movement, and overall musculoskeletal health.

When nails are left untrimmed, they don’t just affect the paw—they can impact the entire kinetic chain.

Why Nail Length Matters

🟢 Alters Joint Angulation & Posture

Overgrown nails force the toe pads upward and backward (caudally), shifting weight proximally within the limb.

This disrupts normal limb loading and can lead to:
* Postural adaptations
* Altered joint alignment
* Compensatory movement patterns

📖 Reference: Zink & Van D**e (2013), Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation

🟢 Impacts Gait & Reduces Stability
If nails contact the ground during stance, they can:
* Cause toe splaying
* Reduce effective ground contact
* Compromise traction

This may increase the risk of:
* Slipping
* Soft tissue strain (tendons/ligaments)
* Secondary compensatory issues

📖 References: Touch Animal Rehabilitation (2020); Canine Body Balance (2021)

🟢 Increases Musculoskeletal Load
Chronic postural change can contribute to:
* Myofascial tension
* Uneven joint loading
* Increased risk of conditions like Osteoarthritis in dogs

Particularly relevant in:
* Senior dogs
* Sporting/working dogs
* Orthopaedic cases

📖 Reference: Veterinary Clinics of North America (2020)

✅ Quick Nail Check. Ask yourself:

✔️ Do the nails touch the ground when your dog is standing? ✔️ Can you hear them tapping on hard flooring?

If yes—it’s time for a trim.

🟢 Clinical Insight
Nail length is often overlooked, yet it’s one of the simplest modifiable factors affecting biomechanics.
I frequently see improvement
* Postural alignment
* Limb loading symmetry
* Movement quality
…simply by addressing nail length alongside soft tissue work.
