Just over a year ago I planted 2 types of seeds. Mandarin spider plants and some palm seeds. Both seeds were harvested from enclosure plants.
The spider plants did well and have been distributed back into enclosures.
The palm are supposed to take a long time to germinate, but I don't think they will.
So for 99.9% of the last year plus these have been sealed and sitting in my window. I open them every couple months and have added a few drops of water to each about every 6 months. Looks like the start of a few types of moss have found a way to start. Spores more than likely. I also saw a single springtail in one.
No real use or purpose for the experiment, just curious and I find it interesting.

I was trying to figure out what he has all over his head. I thought it might be a bad shed. Started trying to figure out how to address it as there is zero chance that he will let me use a damp Qtip. Then I clued in...he has been hanging out under the calcium dish.

Orange springtail culture. The mush is previously dried pangea and fish flakes. I last pulled from this culture in early September.

White springtail culture. The mush is fish flakes and Brewers yeast.
I just poured a bunch out of this culture a couple days ago when I fed last.
