PetMax opened in Hamilton in October 1993. Thirty-three years later, we're still family-owned, still 100% Canadian, and still happiest when we're helping you find the right food for your pet.

For Small Business Week, tell us your PetMax story. How long have you been shopping with us, and who's the pet you shop for? Photos very welcome. 🐾

If you have two minutes, a Google review is one of the most helpful things you can do for a small business. Thank you for 33 years.

It's Small Business Week, so here's a small Canadian maker we love.

Tilted Barn is a family-run company from rural Alberta, and their Beef & Cranberry Mini Wags are made with 100% Canadian ingredients: beef and whole cranberries, with no by-products or additives. They're soft, bite-sized and made for training, so they fit easily into a treat budget.

A small business stocking another small business? That's a good week.

Today is Pet Obesity Awareness Day, and here's the encouraging part: extra pounds come off the same way they went on, a little at a time.

If your dog's waist has gone missing, a weight-management food makes the plan easier. Nutrience Care Weight Management is made in Canada with a triple fibre blend to help curb appetite, 38% less fat than Nutrience SubZero Fraser Valley, and L-carnitine to support lean muscle.

Pair it with measured meals and a treat budget (under 10% of daily calories), and let the weight come off slowly.

Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, your dog can have some turkey. 🦃

The rule is plain: a few small pieces of cooked, boneless, skinless white meat, set aside before the bird gets buttered or seasoned. Plain green beans, carrots and a spoonful of plain pumpkin are fair game too.

Keep the bones, skin, stuffing and gravy on the people plates, and keep all extras under 10% of your pet's daily calories. For a 15 kg dog, that's about a small handful of turkey.

Our dish-by-dish guide covers every plate on the table, for dogs and cats.

Thanksgiving weekend is here, and begging season is officially open. Which technique runs your house?

(a) The Stare: unblinking, from across the room
(b) The Chin: resting gently on your knee
(c) The Paw: a polite tap, then a less polite tap
(d) The Patrol: silent laps under the table

Vote below. Photo evidence welcome. 🦃

The food our customers reach for when their dog seems to react to everything.

Go! Sensitivities Insect is a limited-ingredient, grain-free recipe built on a protein most dogs have never eaten: black soldier fly larvae. No chicken, grains, potato, corn or soy, with omega-3s from marine microalgae for skin and coat. It's made in Elmira, Ontario, and it's our best-selling Go! recipe.

Comparing Go! lines? We broke them all down on the blog this week.
