🐾💜 Meet Kona! 💜🐾

Oh, would you just look at that sweet little face?! 🥹❤️

This was my first time meeting Miss Kona, and let me tell you, this lovely senior lady is an absolute sweetheart!

Kona came in with a whole lot of extra fluff that needed to find a new home (preferably not on her mom’s furniture 😂), so we got right to work!

First up was a nice, soapy bubble bath. Kona decided that sitting was the preferred way to enjoy her spa experience, and who am I to argue with a senior lady? We got a whole lot of that extra fluff out in the tub before moving on to the blow dryer, where we said goodbye to even more!

Then it was up on the grooming table, and things were pretty uneventful. We sat, we stood, we laid down. Whatever Miss Kona felt like doing, we worked around it. We had nowhere else we needed to be, and we got everything done just fine. ❤️

When Kona’s mom’s friend came to pick her up, I told her that Kona is the kind of Labrador that makes people want to get a Labrador.

And then they end up with the kind of Labrador I have.

Which is the kind of Labrador that makes people never want another Labrador. 😂😂

Kona is just one of those dogs. Sweet, gentle, easygoing, and perfectly content to let you fuss over her. She’s the kind of girl who makes grooming feel more like hanging out with an old friend.

There really isn’t anything exciting or dramatic to report about her groom. She came in, had her spa day, left behind a small mountain of fluff, and was an absolute delight through the whole thing.

And that’s just fine by me. 💜

Thank you for spending some time with me, Miss Kona! You are one lovely lady, and I hope I get to see that sweet little face again! 🐾❤️

🎃🐾 Trick or Treat… I’ll Take the Whole Bucket, Thanks! 😂

As you all know, every pup and kitty cat who comes through the doors of Peak Condition Grooming during October gets to go home with some Halloween goodies! 🧡

Now, for the dogs who are interested in picking their own treats, I like to give them the option. I just set the bucket down and let them do a little shopping. 🛍️

Last week, we had Rocket, who was more than happy to pick her own treat. Except Rocket managed to OPEN one of the bags while it was still in the bucket. So there she was, head in the bucket, just mowing down on Halloween cookies like she’d found an all-you-can-eat buffet. 😂

And then we have Messer. 🥹❤️

Messer was absolutely DELIGHTED to learn that he could pick his own treats.

He was basically like, “WAIT. You’re telling me I can just HELP MYSELF?! Don’t mind if I do!”

And help himself he did. 😂

I’m pretty sure at one point this handsome little gentleman had THREE OR FOUR ENTIRE BAGS in his mouth.

Sir. This is trick-or-treating, not a grocery shopping trip. 🤣

Needless to say, Messer went home with a couple of extras because how on earth am I supposed to argue with that face?!

LOOK AT HIM. LOOK HOW FREAKING CUTE HE IS. 😭❤️

And you know what? I’ve got plenty of Halloween goodies, and I am MORE than happy to spoil every single one of these sweet little faces. If they want to do a little extra shopping, who am I to stop them? 😂❤️

I think it’s safe to say the self-serve Halloween treat bucket has been a hit! 🎃🐾

🐱💕 Izzy & Minnie — The Sweetest Sister Duo! 💕

I’m going to start with Minnie, because… LOOK AT HER. 😭❤️

She’s getting SO BIG! My goodness, where did that little kitten go?! She’s growing up and becoming a proper little cat, and I just can’t get over her.

Now, as some of you know, I also have a chocolate British Shorthair, so I might be a little biased when it comes to this breed. But if you’ve never had the pleasure of meeting a British Shorthair, let me tell you, they are simply the loveliest cats. They’re sweet, affectionate, cuddly little creatures, and Minnie is no exception.

She purrs while I groom her. She crawls into my lap. She just wants to be loved, and I am MORE than happy to accommodate that request. 😂❤️

This visit was a big milestone for Minnie because she had her very first bath! And she did SO WELL! She got the whole shebang this time and went home smelling wonderful, looking extra fluffy, and somehow carrying around a whole lot less fluff than when she arrived. 😂

I’m just so proud of this little girl. But seriously, LOOK AT HER FACE. 🥹

And then there’s her sister, Izzy. 🧡

Oh, Izzy. My sweet little orange girl.

Izzy is an absolute champ when it comes to grooming. Does she enjoy having a bath? Absolutely not. Will she tell you all about how much she doesn’t enjoy having a bath? You bet she will. 😂

But here’s the thing about Izzy. She doesn’t fight, she doesn’t act out, she doesn’t cause any trouble whatsoever. She’s reached a state of radical acceptance.

She has accepted that the bath is happening.

She has NOT accepted that she needs to be quiet about it. 😂

And honestly? Fair enough, Izzy. You’re entitled to your opinion.

But once we’re finished with the bath and move on to the blow-drying and brushing, where she’s getting all that lovely attention? Oh, she’s as happy as can be.

She is SUCH an orange cat. If you know, you know. 😂🧡 She’s got that wonderful orange cat personality, and underneath all those very vocal opinions is just the sweetest, most loving girl.

These two are such a lovely little sister duo, and I genuinely enjoy having them in for their spa days.

But I’m sorry, I need to circle back one more time…

MINNIE. LOOK AT HER. SHE’S BECOMING A WHOLE CAT. 😭❤️🐾

🐾 Max. Maxie. Maximus. Maxwell. Maximilian. Maxi Doodlebops. Maxi Doodle. 💜

You know him. You love him. It’s MAX! 🥰

This handsome little gentleman comes to see me about every four weeks, and honestly, he’s exactly that. A gentleman.

You could put this guy in a tuxedo, send him off to a fancy dinner party, and he’d have the impeccable manners to match. 🎩

Max knows the routine, knows what’s expected of him, and is just an absolute sweetheart from start to finish.

Now, I’ve mentioned before that Max is getting a little older, and sometimes those little leggies get tired during his groom. Max is usually pretty determined to stand through the whole thing, but this time he actually decided to sit down and rest for a few minutes!

And I was SO happy about it. 😂💜

Sir, you are absolutely allowed to sit down! Nobody is expecting you to stand at attention for your entire spa day!

I love that he’s comfortable enough to take a little break when he needs one. Those leggies have earned it. 🥹

Other than that, what can I tell you?

No drama. No shenanigans. No exciting grooming-room gossip.

Just Max being Max.

A happy, sweet, ridiculously lovable doodle who shows up, gets handsome, accepts his cuddles, and goes about his day.

And really, that’s perfectly fine with me. Not every grooming appointment needs a story. Sometimes it’s just a lovely afternoon spent with a lovely dog.

Although I could absolutely spend the entire afternoon cuddling this one. 💜🐾

🎃🐾 IT’S SPOOKY SCHNAUZER SEASON! 🐾🎃

And who better to celebrate than one of our favourite Miniature Schnauzer duos, Willow and Skooner! 💜💚

These two came in for their spa day to make sure they’re looking sharp and ready for all things October and Halloween! 👻

Now, I need to tell you something about these two. They are about as rock-solid, bulletproof, absolutely wonderful to groom as dogs can possibly get. And I can take ZERO credit for that! They’ve been this way since the very first day I met them, so all the credit goes to their previous groomer for setting them up so beautifully.

They’re calm, easygoing, stand like absolute rock stars, and just make the whole grooming process a breeze. Seriously, they’re little professionals. 😂

We’ve also got our routine down to a science!

First, we have a lovely bubble bath together. 🫧 Then Skooner hops up on the table for his groom while Willow gets to relax in her crate, finish drying, and supervise her brother’s haircut. Once he’s all handsome, we swap! Willow gets her turn to be pampered, and Skooner gets to kick back.

No drama. No fuss. Just two little Schnauzers who know exactly how spa day works. 💜

I’ve also been doing a little extra research into different Schnauzer styles and watching all sorts of grooming tutorials. There are SO many fun variations of the Schnauzer look, and while these two are absolutely adorable just the way they are, I like having a few extra tricks up my sleeve in case their parents ever feel like switching things up!

And of course, once all the grooming is done, these two get to come hang out in the house while they wait for pickup. Which basically means they make themselves right at home, claim the couch, and carry on like they own the place.

And honestly? At this point, I think they might. 😂

Willow and Skooner, you two are just the sweetest little souls. Such lovely personalities, such wonderful manners, and those ridiculously adorable Schnauzer faces!

🎃🐾 I know, I know… we haven’t even made it through Halloween yet, and here I am talking about Christmas! 🎄😂

But I’ve already started gathering goodies for not one, but TWO Christmas baskets! One for our feline friends 🐱 and one for our canine companions! 🐶

🐾 Meet Theo! 🐾💜

First of all, this picture does NOT do this boy justice. 😂

Remember Rocket, the German Shorthaired Pointer, affectionately known around here as Tina Turner because of those ridiculously long legs? Well, Tina, you’ve got some competition for the longest legs in Grande Cache! 🤣

Theo is a TALL boy. And I mean TALL. He’s got legs for days, and unfortunately, this picture does absolutely nothing to showcase just how long and beautiful those legs really are. You’ll just have to trust me on this one.

Now, Theo is a Husky, so naturally, we had a pretty entertaining grooming session. 😂

We sang. 🎤
We had karaoke.
We had a full-blown fur-nado. 🌪️
We did a LOT of de-shedding.
And, of course, we had some very important conversations along the way.

Because what’s a Husky groom without a little singing, a lot of opinions, and enough flying fur to make you wonder if there’s any left on the dog? 🤣

And the best part? Theo still acts like a giant puppy! He’s incredibly sweet, ridiculously cute, and has such a fun personality. He’s one of those dogs who makes the grooming process just as entertaining as it is productive.

Honestly, I don’t think his groom was quite long enough. We could have easily spent a little more time chatting, singing, and removing fluff. Although, I’m not sure there was much more fluff left to remove! 😂

Theo, you are welcome to come sing to me anytime! I’ll provide the grooming supplies, you bring the vocals. 🎤🐾💜

Meet Pansy 💜🐾

Pansy recently went to live with her new family, but before settling into this next chapter, her previous family wanted to make sure she was taken care of and treated her to a spa day before winter. 🥹 Honestly, such a thoughtful little gesture for a girl they clearly love very much.

Of course, Pansy decided to make things interesting.

Right before her appointment, she pulled a classic cat move and completely disappeared. 😂 Her family messaged me to let me know they couldn’t find her. Thankfully, she was my evening appointment, and I only book one or two pets in the evenings, so I told them if they managed to locate Miss Houdini, I still had time to groom her.

And they found her. 😂

I believe this was Pansy’s first professional groom, and you absolutely would not have known it. Nails? No problem. Bath? No problem. Ears? Easy. Brushing? Loved it. Blow dryer? Definitely not her favourite, but she handled it without much fuss.

Cuddles? Now THAT was her specialty.

She is such a sweet, beautiful girl, and after meeting her family, it’s pretty clear she has landed somewhere wonderful. She is very, very loved. 💜

Pansy is a medium-haired girl, so regular brushing at home is important, and I’m told her human siblings have been helping with that job. Judging by the condition of her coat when she came in, those babies are doing a fantastic job. 🥹

There’s something extra sweet about seeing a kitty so loved by the people from her previous chapter and the people in her new one.

Welcome to the Peak Condition family, Pansy. 💜 Hopefully next time we can skip the pre-appointment game of hide-and-seek. 😂🐱

This is Marz. 💜 And honestly, I feel like I could leave the post at that.

I don’t need to tell you guys how much I love this dog, how much I adore her, or how much time I spend cuddling her… because apparently the whole world already knows. 😂

Marz and Nyx are sisters, and they’re on a regular grooming schedule, which means I’m lucky enough to see them pretty often. So when her dad dropped Marz off today, we were chatting and he asked how long I thought she’d be.

“Probably about two hours.”

He laughs and goes, “Okay, but how long would it be without all the cuddles?”

EXCUSE ME, SIR. 😂😂

I was actually speechless. All I could think was, I’m sorry, sir, but I don’t ask what you do in the privacy of your own basement, and I’d appreciate the same courtesy. 😂

Obviously, I’m kidding. But apparently I’ve officially been found out, and my excessive Marz cuddling is no longer the well-kept secret I thought it was.

But LOOK AT HER. What exactly am I supposed to do?! Marz is the happiest little girl. She’s sweet, she gives kisses, she loves a cuddle, and she’s just an absolute joy to have here.

Maybe next time she comes in, I’ll tell you guys a little more about why Marz is so special to me, because it actually goes a little deeper than her just being this incredibly happy, lovable little dog. 💜

For now, I would just like to defend myself by pointing out that I am still working while I cuddle your dogs.

Yes, Marz and I are cuddling… but I’m also blow-drying her.

Yes, we’re cuddling… but I’m trimming a nail.

Okay, now I’m just trying to justify myself.

I WORK WHILE I CUDDLE, OKAY?! 😂💜
