Adoptable Jackie 🩷 🐾

This happy girl is full of personality and always ready for her next adventure. She absolutely loves her toys, is very food motivated (which makes training a breeze!), and enjoys getting out for walks. She’s also been joining her foster for morning runs and is building up her running skills. While she’s still polishing her leash manners, she’s eager to learn and making great progress every day.

Jackie can be a little enthusiastic when meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet and affectionate personality shines through.

She doesn’t resource guard her food, has lots of energy, and would thrive with an active family or a playful canine companion who can keep up with her.

In light of the recent news please see below on how you can help the Fort McMurray SPCA ❤️

97 ANIMALS HAVE ARRIVED AT THE SHELTER
Yes, you read that correctly, a group of 97 animals were taken into the Fort McMurray SPCA this week. This is the largest number of animals we have ever had arrive at the shelter at one time, and our team is working around the clock to get everyone settled, assessed and cared for.
Right now, we are still:
• Identifying medical concerns
• Assessing behaviour and individual needs
• Getting everyone organized and settled
• Creating a plan for the care and placement of these animals
We know our community is going to have questions, and we know many of you are going to want to help. We are incredibly grateful. But right now, what we need most is a little time to organize and plan. This was unexpected and doubled our animals over nights.

These animals will not be available for viewing or adoption at this time. We understand that everyone is curious and wants to see the new arrivals, but allowing people to come in and visit right now would add additional stress and make it much more difficult for our team to focus on getting 97 animals safely settled and cared for. Our immediate priority is to continue providing the high level of care our animals receive every day, while also ensuring these new arrivals receive the same care, attention and compassion.

Today is supposed to be a day to celebrate the unconditional love dogs bring into our lives… but for these five, it’s also a reminder that they’re still waiting for someone to choose them. 💔

Fosters needed - now more than ever.

We need your help. Recently, we’ve had to turn away animals in need simply because we didn’t have a foster home available. And that is one of the hardest things for a rescue to say.

WBARC doesn’t have a facility. Our foster homes ARE our rescue. They are the safe place an animal goes when they’ve been abandoned, found as a stray, or simply need someone to give them a second chance.

When you foster, you provide the loving home, and we provide the rest. That means food, veterinary care, training guidance, support, and anything else you need along the way. You’re never in it alone!

Adoptable Boogs 💙

Boogs is a handsome boy who’s making wonderful progress in foster care and is looking for a patient family to help him continue building his confidence.

He’s currently working on his leash manners and learning that new people, places, and experiences aren’t so scary. Because Boogs had limited socialization early in life, he can be cautious with strangers and has some typical shepherd alert barking. With positive reinforcement, consistency, and time, he’s improving every day.

Once Boogs gets to know you, his true personality shines. He’s incredibly affectionate, playful, and loves spending time with his people and foster fur sibling. Smart, eager to learn, and full of potential, he’s ready to find a family who will celebrate every milestone with him.

210 days ago, Peaches came into our care pregnant, and just days later, welcomed her babies into the world. Her puppies have all found their forever homes, and now it’s finally Peaches’ turn. 💔

Peaches has been spending her summer living her best life—heading to the lake, catching waves, playing with the kids, and hanging out with her fur foster sibling, Leia. 🌊

She’s a quirky, sweet girl with big ears, an even bigger personality, and so much love to give. She’s blossomed into a confident, affectionate pup who loves outdoor adventures just as much as cuddling with her people.

Her favourite pastime? Laying on her back and playing with her toys over her head. And of course, treats are absolutely her love language!

After being such an amazing mama, Peaches is ready to be someone’s baby now. ❤️
