Daisy’s Golden Evening
As the evening grew quiet and the last bit of sunlight slipped through the windows, Daisy found herself a comfortable place to sit.
It had been a good day.
There had been familiar voices and gentle hands. There had been interesting smells to investigate and important little things to watch. Daisy had made sure everything was exactly as it should be.
Now, though, the world was becoming soft.
The light around her turned warm and golden, and Daisy sat very still for a moment, listening.
Somewhere nearby, someone she loved was moving around the house.
That was all Daisy needed to know.
She gave one little sigh, the kind dogs give when their whole world feels safe, and settled down.
Her eyes grew heavy.
Tomorrow there would be more things to sniff, more people to love, and undoubtedly several matters requiring Daisy’s personal supervision.
But those were tomorrow’s worries.
Tonight, Daisy was warm.
Tonight, Daisy was loved.
And as she tucked herself in and closed her eyes, the golden evening seemed to wrap itself around her like a blanket.
Goodnight, sweet Daisy. You did enough today. ❤️
