☀️ The days are getting shorter — and your flock knows it! 🐔

As we head toward fall, fewer daylight hours can mean fewer eggs in the nesting boxes. Hens naturally respond to changes in daylight, so you may start noticing egg production slowing down as the days get shorter.

💡 Want to help keep your girls laying more consistently?
A little supplemental lighting in the coop can help maintain a steady day length through the fall and winter.

• Add supplemental light in the morning before sunrise, rather than extending the day after dark.
• Increase lighting gradually as natural daylight decreases.
• Keep your lighting schedule consistent — a simple timer makes it easy!

Sheldon Creek Dairy is built on the third generation Haanview farm nestled in the rolling hills of the Sheldon Valley.

The farm is owned and operated by the den Haan Family. They have 75 purebred Holstein cows in their milking herd. They have been breeding exclusively for A2A2 genetics for the past 5 years and have tested our herd for A2. They are the first in Canada to produce 100% Milk free from A1 proteins.
