Join us in the community clean-up!
No begin date!
Some residents have already started👏
Garbage bags and gloves are provided at the town hall.
Place garbage by fire hall.
Join us June 3rd for a BBQ, 5:00 pm
Hosted by Shorefast, Town of Change Islands and the Change Islands Volunteer Fire Department.

Notice: Planned Power Outage

Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro wishes to advise its customers of a planned power interruption for all of Fogo Island and Change Islands.
Sunday, May 24th, 2026, from 9am – 3pm, weather permitting.
The reason for the outage is to perform distribution upgrades.
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro apologize to its customers for any inconvenience caused due to this interruption in service.

Notice:
Change Islands Municipal Spring Cleanup
June 1 to June 5, 2026

Due to safety concerns and time constraints, refuse is placed into four (4) separate piles at the curbside.

Pile 1: Metals, including large appliances made mostly of metal.

Pile 2: Branches, tied and bundled (Max. 50lb/ 5ft lengths).

Pile 3: Construction and demolition material including wood, lumber, wooden chairs & tables, wooden dresser/desk. Nails must be removed or completely bent into wood. (Max. 50lb/ 5ft lengths).

Pile 4: Other refuse, including covered furniture, mattresses and plastic debris. - All loose material (gyproc, glass, shingles, ceramic tiles, etc.) must be in appropriate container (max. 50lb per container). - Broken glass must be clearly marked and properly contained.

NOTE: The following items will not be collected: • Rocks, gravel or concrete • Electronics (Computer, TV’s, Etc.) • Hazardous waste (Propane tanks, Paint, Pesticides, Oil, etc.)

There will be no curbside collection from homes deemed non-compliant.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans is extending the food fishery in some parts of Newfoundland and Labrador to reflect the desires of residents and address an inequity to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Community Garden Support Program. We are is pleased to inform you that a grant to Town of Change Islands in the amount of $750 has been approved.
The Community Garden Support Program contributes to the Provincial Government's goal to increase food self-sufficiency in Newfoundland and Labrador, and will offer communities better access to fresh, locally grown foods.
Stay tuned to the Change Islands Community Garden updates for set-up and planting dates.
