🧡 On September 30th, K9 Joe's honours the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.

This is a day to learn, and a gentle way to reflect, listen to survivors, and remember the Children and communities impacted.

"Every Child Matters. Chaque enfant compte." 🧡

Truth. Reconciliation. Remembering. 🧡 Sitting in remembrance. Honoring Survivors, and keeping sacred thoughts of the Children, communities, families, and all those impacted, and committing to truth, simply, and respectfully, by holding in our hearts the memories of all persons affected. 🧡

As the late Coast Salish Elder and Teacher, Shane Pointe, said to all of us many times, "Naut'sa Maut. Let's come together with one mind and one heart." We honour and respect his words. 🧡

🇨🇦🕊️ K9 JOE'S IS REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11th WITH HONOUR AND RESPECT

On September 11th, K9 Joe and the K9 Joe Team will be near Gander, Newfoundland, joining others in remembering the 25th Anniversary of 9/11.

For K9 Joe, this remembrance is also deeply personal.

As a K9 Search and Rescue Instructor, K9 Joe knows firsthand the extraordinary bond between a working K9 Search and Rescue Dog and their Handler. Along that journey were his late K9 Unit SAR Partners, “Paco” and "Moka".

Paco was more than a Working Dog. He was a partner, a teammate, and a trusted Canine Companion—one of those special K9 Working Dogs whose service leaves a permanent mark on the heart.

As we remember those who were lost, the families forever changed, and the compassion shown by the people of Gander and Newfoundland on September 11th, K9 Joe will also carry Paco's and Moka’s memories with him.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
🇨🇦🇺🇸🐾🕊️

🍁🐾 Labour Day: Celebrating the Dogs Working Behind the Wag! 🐾🍁
Celebrating hard work, family time, and a smooth transition into the fall routine for everyone and their Dogs!

Dear K9 Joe’s VIP Pack Members:

As summer winds down and we approach Canadian Labour Day, we take a moment to appreciate the people and Dogs whose dedication, skills, and hard work help our families and communities thrive.

At K9 Joe's Training Academy, Doggy Hotel, Resort and Spa, Doggy Daycare and Doggy Salon, we know that good work is built on something very similar to good Dog training:

Consistency. Patience. Practice. Communication...And showing up every day.

On Labour Day, K9 Joe's recognizes all Working Line Dogs who have made our lives easier in so many ways over the centuries, from Hunting to Search and Rescue, Sniffer Dogs to Therapy Dogs, Herding Dogs to Emotional Support and Therapy Dogs, Detection Dogs and Guard Dogs, Police, Military and Navy Seal Dogs, they have brought so much to the table to make all of our lives better. And if you've ever trained a Puppy or Dog, you already know, sometimes the hardest worker in the room has four paws and still expects a treat at the end of the shift! 🐾😄

🎓 Back to Routine, Back to Training
Labour Day often marks the unofficial end of Summer and the beginning of new routines.

School starts. Work schedules change. Vacations wind down. And our Puppies and Dogs notice!

This is an excellent time for a K9 Joe's Training Refresher to rebuild structure, focus, recall, leash manners, reactivity, and calm behaviour before the busy fall season begins.

Because maintaining good behaviour is a little like maintaining fitness:

Use it—or Lose it! 🐶
💦 One Last Summer Treat
Before we completely say goodbye to Summer, why not give your Puppy or Dog one final Summer experience?

🐾 K9 Joe's Camp Bow Wow — Structured play and enrichment
🏃 Fast & Furriest Agility Training Courses — Exercise, socialization, fun, physical activity, confidence & teamwork
🌲 Ruffin' It Nature Walks — Exploration and mental stimulation
💦 SPAW Days — Refreshing baths, deshedding, paw care, relaxation & pampering Doggy Massages, Doggy Yoga, etc.
🏨 Doggy Hotel, Resort & Daycare — Safe, enriching care while you're away with a photo and video link to check out
🎓 K9 Joe's Training Courses — Preparing your Puppy or Dog for a successful fall at your home or with us at K9 Joe's

🍁 From Summer Freedom to Fall Structure
The transition doesn't have to be difficult. A little preparation now can help your Puppy or Dog settle into the new rhythm with greater confidence and predictability.

And remember: training isn't just about obedience. It's about building communication between you and your Canine Companion Puppy or Dog, so that everyday life becomes easier, calmer, and more enjoyable for everyone!

📅 Ready for Fall?
As Summer boarding winds down, K9 Joe's fall Training Academy, Doggy Daycare, SPAW Sessions, Grooming, and Hotel and Resort schedules are opening up. We only take a few Dogs at a time, so booking very early is important.

If your Puppy or Dog needs a little education, enrichment, exercise, relaxation—or all of the above, now is the perfect time to plan their next K9 Joe's experience.

🐾 Don't wait for the fall routine to become hectic—prepare your Puppy or Dog now!
Wishing all of our clients, families, and hardworking Canadian communities a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved Labour Day long weekend.

Enjoy the final days of Summer—and give your Best Canine Friend an extra day off, too!

Stay. Learn. Wag.

P.S. Don't just take our word for it! Please visit our page and read what our clients have to say about their Puppies' and Dogs' Training Journeys and successes, adventures, transformations, and experiences with the K9 Joe's Pack. ❤️🐾

HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY from K9 Joe's Entire Pack!

Today, August 26th, we celebrate the one Family Member who never asks what time dinner is… because somehow, they already know!

Happy National Dog Day!

Dogs give us something incredibly special: their unconditional love, loyalty, companionship, and trust. But the beautiful Human-Dog relationship isn't built on love alone.

It is built through communication, understanding, leadership, education, consistency, and shared experiences.

So, what will you give your Dog today?

Some Extra Attention with K9 Joe's Ruffin' In Nature Walks?
A Training Refresher at K9 Joe's Doggy Boot Camp?
A New Adventure at K9 Joe's Camp Bow Wow?
A Day of Structured Play at K9 Joe's Doggy Daycare?
A Relaxing SPAW Treatment at K9 Joe's Doggy Salon?
A Holiday Getaway at K9 Joe's Doggy Hotel and Resort?
Or a Fun Run on K9 Joe's Fast and Furriest Agility Course?

Because sometimes the best way to celebrate our Puppies and Dogs is not simply to spoil them…

It's to invest in the relationship we share with them.

At K9 Joe's Training Academy, Doggy Hotel, Resort and Spaw, Doggy Daycare and Doggy Salon, we believe every Dog deserves the opportunity to learn, explore, play, relax, and thrive—and every owner deserves to know how to understand and communicate with their Puppy or Dog.

From Professional One on One In-Home Training with K9 Joe and/or Board & Train time with us at K9 Joe's Training Academy, to Doggy Daycare, Resort and Hotel stays, SPAW experiences, grooming, enrichment, agility, and nature adventures, we're here to help you and your Puppy or Dog to enjoy life to the fullest—for their entire life.

TODAY'S NATIONAL DOG DAY CHALLENGE:

Don't just buy your Dog another toy.
Give them an experience.
Book a training refresher.
Plan a SPAW day.
Schedule an adventure.
Strengthen their recall.
Take them somewhere new.
Or simply spend 20 uninterrupted minutes together.
Your Dog won't remember the price tag.
They'll remember the time you spent together.

What is YOUR Puppy or Dog's name, and what makes them so special? Send us an email, a facebook message, or just tell us in the comments and share a photo!

And if you've been thinking, "We really should get back into training..."
This is your sign.

Contact the K9 Joe's Pack and let's find your Dog's next adventure, training goal, or wellness experience.

Happy National Dog Day!
Because everyday is better with a Dog!

🎓🐾 WELCOME TO BARK TO SKOOL AT K9 JOE'S! 🐾🎓
Because Every Great Puppy and Dog Needs an Education!
From Puppy Kindergarten to Canine Doggy Boot Camp Graduation -
Every Dog has a Learning Journey, and Every K9 Stage has a Curriculum!
Dear Valued VIP K9 Joe's Pack Members:

Back-to-school season is here!

Children return to classrooms with teachers, coaches, lessons, homework, and increasingly difficult challenges.

But what about our Puppies and Dogs? They need an education, too!

Not because Dogs need to become "Little Humans," but because every stage of canine development brings different physical, emotional, social, and cognitive capabilities - and therefore different learning opportunities at each level.

At K9 Joe's Training Academy, Doggy Hotel, Resort and Spa, Doggy Daycare and Doggy Salon, we call this Training Journey, K9 JOE'S BARK TO SKOOL!!!

Think of it as your Dog's educational pathway- from their very first Puppy lessons to becoming a confident, reliable adult Canine Companion that you can take with you anywhere.

And just like human students, Puppies and Dogs shouldn't be expected to pass Grade 12 and University level requirements when they're still in Kindergarten!

🏫 THE K9 JOE'S CANINE SCHOOL SYSTEM:
🐶 PRE-SCHOOL:
Approximately 8–12 weeks

Human-school analogy: Preschool / Early Kindergarten

This is an extraordinary period for learning.

Puppies are rapidly developing social, emotional, sensory, and motor skills.

Goal: Build positive associations with learning, people, environments, handling, and communication.
🐾 PUPPY KINDERGARTEN:
Approximately 12–16 weeks
Human-school analogy: Kindergarten

Your Puppy is becoming more mobile, curious, confident, and environmentally aware.

This is an excellent time to develop foundational communication.

Goal: Learning becomes structured, while keeping curiosity and confidence alive.
📚 GRADES 1–2:
Approximately 4–6 months
Human-school analogy: Early Elementary School

Your Puppy is becoming stronger and more coordinated, while curiosity and independence are increasing.

This is where foundations need to become reliable habits.

Goal: Take skills learned in quiet environments and begin transferring them into the real world.
🎒 GRADES 3–5:
Approximately 6–12 months
Human-school analogy: Elementary School

Welcome to the adolescent classroom!

Your Dog may now have considerably more physical ability—but physical maturity does not automatically equal emotional maturity.

This is often when owners discover that yesterday's reliable Puppy suddenly seems to have "forgotten" everything.

They haven't.

They're developing.

Goal: Move from "My Dog can do it" to "My Dog can do it when life gets interesting and there are distractions all around, but they can still focus."
🏫 MIDDLE SCHOOL:
Approximately 1–2 years
Human-school analogy: Middle School

Adolescence can be challenging.

Your Dog's body may look nearly adult, but emotional regulation and decision-making are still developing.

This is where consistency matters enormously.

Goal: Build reliability, confidence, emotional balance, and better decision-making.
🎓 HIGH SCHOOL:
Approximately 2–3+ years
Human-school analogy: High School

Now we're asking for mature performance and reliability in performing as required.

The goal is no longer simply teaching individual behaviors.

We're developing a Dog capable of functioning successfully in increasingly complex environments.

Goal: A confident, responsive Dog who understands how to work with their human partner.
🏆 CANINE / K9 UNIVERSITY:
Adult & Continuing Education
Human-school analogy: College / University / Professional Development

Graduation doesn't mean learning stops.

Quite the opposite.

Dogs benefit from continued education throughout life.

Because training isn't a single phase of Dog ownership.

It is part of a lifelong relationship, for every Dog, and even more so for Service, Agility, Sniffer, Search and Rescue, and all levels of both Pets and Working Dogs!

🧠 BUT HERE'S THE IMPORTANT PART...
Dogs Are Not Small Humans.
Our grade system is a learning analogy, not a literal conversion of canine age into human school grades.

A six-month-old Dog is not simply the equivalent of a six-year-old child.

Dogs develop according to their own biological timeline.

Breed, genetics, individual temperament, environment, previous experiences, health, socialization, and learning history all influence development.

That means the right question isn't:

"How old is my Puppy or Dog?"

It's:

"What is my Dog ready to learn next?"
That's where Professional K9 Training and Coaching makes a massive difference.

👨‍🏫 EVERY GREAT STUDENT NEEDS A GREAT TEACHER!
Children don't learn mathematics by being handed a textbook and told to figure it out.

Athletes don't become Champions by watching YouTube videos.

Drivers don't become safe drivers simply by reading the rules.

And Puppies and Dogs don't become reliable Canine Companions that you can take anywhere, simply because their owners know a list of commands.

Someone has to bridge the gap between information and application.

That's what we do.

At K9 Joe's Training Academy, Doggy Hotel, Resort and Spa, Doggy Daycare and Doggy Salon, we don't simply train Puppies and Dogs.

We educate Puppies and Dogs AND coach their humans.
We help owners understand:

🐾 How their dog learns
🐾 What their dog is communicating
🐾 How to set appropriate expectations
🐾 How to progress through increasingly difficult challenges
🐾 How to build reliability outside the training environment
🐾 How to maintain the relationship for life

🎓 WHAT GRADE IS YOUR DOG IN?
Maybe you have:

🐶 A Puppy ready for Kindergarten

🐕 An adolescent who needs Middle School guidance

🎓 An adult Dog who needs an obedience refresher

🏆 A high-level student ready for advanced challenges or specialized training

❤️ Or a senior who simply needs a different kind of continuing education

There is no "too late." There is no "we missed our window." There is always a next lesson.

🐾 BARK TO SKOOL IS NOW IN SESSION AT K9 JOE'S TRAINING ACADEMY!
Our Training Programs can be combined with the complete K9 Joe's experience:

🎓 Training Academy — Education & professional coaching with K9 Joe and Team

🏨 Doggy Hotel and Resort — Structured stays & enrichment can include training

🐕 Doggy Daycare — Supervised and monitored activities & social development

💦 SPAW & Doggy Salon — Grooming, wellness, relaxation & pampering daily

Because a well-rounded Puppy or Dog needs more than obedience.

They need education, enrichment, exercise, rest, grooming, social connection, and a human who understands how to guide them through their whole life.

📚 READY TO ENROLL?
Don't wait for your Puppy or Dog to get older and to "grow out of it."

Don't wait for a problem to become a habit that has to be unlearned.

And don't wait until you need a reliable Dog before teaching reliability.

Find your Dog's next grade - and let's get BARK TO SKOOL! 🎓🐾
Contact the K9 Joe's Training Academy, Doggy Hotel, Resort and Spa, Doggy Daycare and Doggy Salon to discuss the right educational pathway for your Dog.

P.S. The best students aren't necessarily the ones who learn the fastest. They're the ones who keep learning. And fortunately, Dogs never really graduate from loving school and the attention that comes with training and time in education! 🎓🐶❤️

Please don't just take our word for it. Visit our page and read what our clients have to say about their Puppies' and Dogs' experiences, training journeys, and transformations into wonderful Canine Citizens with the K9 Joe's Training Academy, Doggy Hotel, Resort and Spa, Doggy Daycare and Doggy Salon.

☀️🐾 Welcome to the Dog Days of Summer at K9 Joe's! 🐾☀️

Keep Your Furry Best Friend Cool, Happy, Active, and Thriving All Summer Long With a Little Help From the K9 Joe's Pack. We Are Keeping Those Happy Puppy Tails Wagging All Summer Long!!!

Dear K9 Joe's VIP Pack Members:

The Dog Days of Summer are in full swing!

Long sunny days, family vacations, camping adventures, backyard barbecues, lake days, extended holidays, and evening walks in the warm air make this one of the most enjoyable times of the year—for both people and their Puppies and Dogs!

"The "Dog Days of Summer" phrase dates back all the way to ancient Rome and Greece, where it was tied to the heliacal rising of Sirius (the "Dog Star"). Ancient skywatchers believed that Sirius rose alongside the Sun and added its own intense heat to the Summer days, resulting in the sultry weather we still experience today!"

But while we often think of Summer as our long awaited vacation season, our Puppies and Dogs experience it a little differently.

Warmer temperatures, changing routines, fireworks, travel, guests, and increased activity can all affect your Dog's physical comfort, emotional balance, stability, and daily routines.

That's why the "Dog Days of Summer" are the perfect reminder to slow down, stay safe, and continue investing in your Dog's health, happiness, and education. They will thank you for it!

🌞 What Exactly Are the "Dog Days of Summer"?
Contrary to popular belief, the expression doesn't come from Dogs becoming lazy in the heat.

As mentioned, the phrase dates back thousands of years to ancient civilizations observing the rising of Sirius, the "Dog Star," during the hottest weeks of summer.

Today, the Dog Days of Summer remind us to pay extra attention to our Canine Furry Companions as temperatures climb.

🐾 Summer Is Meant to Be Enjoyed… Safely!
Your Dog doesn't have to spend the summer sitting inside.

With a little preparation, they can safely enjoy everything the season has to offer.

Remember to:

💧 Keep fresh water available at all times.

🌳 Walk during cooler morning or evening hours.

🐾 Check for hot sidewalks and asphalt before heading out.

🚗 Never leave Dogs unattended in vehicles, even for a minute.

🧊 Allow plenty of opportunities for rest and cooling down.

Healthy Dogs are happy Dogs. Balanced Dogs are confident Dogs.

🎓 Summer Doesn't Mean Taking a Break from Learning
Just like Children benefit from Summer Camp, Puppies and Dogs thrive when their bodies and minds stay engaged.

Training is not simply about commands. It's about communication. Every walk... Every greeting... Every outing... Every interaction... Is an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between you and your Canine Companion.

Whether your goal is improving recall, loose leash walking, calm behaviour around guests, or simply becoming a more confident Team with your Puppy or Dog, consistency is what transforms potential into lifelong habits for our K9 Friends!

At K9 Joe's Training Academy, Doggy Hotel Resort and Spa, Doggy Daycare and Doggy Salon, we're here to help every step of the journey. And at K9 Joe's, you will find we still have a human connection, we don't exist through an App on your phone, we answer your calls, texts, Whatsapp messages and calls, facebook messages, and emails right away, 24/7/365, day or night, and you can deal with a real live person instead of a bot or a smartphone or a laptop screen - you will have a living breathing body, and a real person that can answer your questions immediately, not a robot that asks you to fill out an application form, and wait 48 hours, and someone might respond and get back to you when they aren't too busy or "with another client, please hold, as your call is very important to us". Don't you miss connecting to someone knowledgeable who knows Puppies and Dogs, instead of a screen, someone who can give you an answer immediately on training or boarding?

🏨 Give Your Puppy or Dog a Summer Vacation Too!
While you're away enjoying your well deserved vacation and summer holidays, why not let your Dog enjoy one of their own?

Our K9 guests experience:

🏨 Comfortable accommodations at K9 Joe's Doggy Hotel and Resort

🐾 Supervised socialization and interaction with trusted Puppies and Dogs during short or long term extended Boarding Stays, Doggy Daycare, "Camp Bow Wow", "Steampunk Stampede Doggy 'Boot' Camp", "Ruff'in It Doggy Pool Parties" and the "Fast and Furriest" Agility Course at K9 Joe's Training Academy

🌿 Daily enrichment to give Mental and Physical Stimulation

🎓 Professional Training options one on one with K9 Joe

💦 SPAW Grooming and Relaxing Wellness Spa Treatments

❤️ Individualized TLC care from experienced K9 Professionals

Every stay is designed to support your Puppy or Dog's physical, mental, and emotional well-being and to keep them tired and happy! Many of our K9 Guests are sad to leave K9 Joe's!

Because a vacation should leave everyone feeling refreshed.

✂️ A Fresh Look for Summer
Summer coats require summer care.

Our Doggy Salon and SPAW helps keep your Puppy or Dog comfortable with:

🛁 Refreshing baths

✨ Professional deshedding and brush outs

🐾 Paw pad care and Coconut Oil Foot Rubs

🌿 Skin and coat conditioning

💅 Nail trims

A clean, healthy coat not only looks beautiful—it helps your Dog stay cooler and more comfortable during the warmest months.

🐶 Dogs Thrive in a Community With K9 Pack Structure
Dogs are naturally social animals.

When guided properly, safe social interaction builds confidence, resilience, and emotional balance.

Whether it's a fun day at K9 Joe's Doggy Daycare, a Boarding and Training experience, a relaxing stay at K9 Joe's Doggy Hotel, Resort & Spa, or at our K9 Joe's Grooming Salon Spaw, every interaction becomes an opportunity to learn and grow.

Because your beloved Puppy or Dog deserves:

A place to play. A place to learn. A place to relax. A place to belong.
