Another update post, have quite a few things to get posted so let’s get started!

🔸Harbinger’s Newest Clients:

Flirt❤️ & Marcus🖤

❤️Flirt is a coming 4yo Arab c**t who is in to be started and get some experience out on the trail so he can join his momma on all her trail/mountain adventures! This cutie is so friendly, easy to work with and is check marking his way through his “first ride prep” month like a champ!

🖤Marcus is a broke to ride, 16 yo mule who comes from a previous client! He is such a personable and sweet donkey but he has some very serious herd bound/insecurity issues that we are hoping to address. I have never met a more “in your pocket” mule and I hope that with time and confidence Marcus will hit his stride and become the best version of himself that he can!

🔸As for horse change over, Monet and Abbie headed for home and wishing them and their owners all the best!

🔶 A real highlight, since her respiratory issue diagnosis in November, Jay J has been off work, received surgery, recovered and was given the all clear to return to work last week! I put my first ride back on her on Thursday and she didn’t miss a beat, we headed straight to the bush in the river valley near her home to check out some new potential trail and she calculated, back tracked and bush whacked with me like the steady mount and friend she has always been. ❤️❤️ As a coming 4yo who has been through so much recently and sat for 4 months I couldn’t have been prouder with her first ride back, more from her soon I’m sure!

🔸Finally, on a bit of a somber note my project horse received a poor diagnosis for an Appaloosa related ocular issue that resulted in me having to make the choice to put him down as the condition was promptly degenerative and any treatment to delay the inevitable would have been traumatic due to his low level of comfort around strangers. Peaches never gave up his wild spirit and I know his soul is at peace free from pain and confinement…
Sadly though there will be no further updates from him.

No “Fair Weather Ponies Allowed” Episode 37☃️

Headed out in some pretty serious wind/sleet/snow tonight while out on our group ride… found some pockets of nicer weather but this is a great example of what everyone handled this evening!

Freya, Ada & Folger guided by their learning riders took it all in stride and Merlin (ridden by Naomi) didn’t have a care in the world that it was absolutely disgusting out! 🤣 I was on Vespa, who is green as grass and he also kept his head on and lead the way through the wind and snow! ❄️❄️❄️

What amazing creatures, so proud of them for utilizing their skills and making a gross, windy, snowy day a good of a day as any for a ride! ♥️

Another “getting back on track” post…

*** Folger has remained in for the winter and has transitioned over to being primarily worked by Naomi!
It’s always a treat handing youngsters over to her and Folger absolutely loves her! ❤️❤️

Wanting to put a little spotlight on both Folger and Merlin… These two 3yos have been an absolute delight to start and work with! They are both so kind, willing and open to information. Myself and Naomi have so enjoyed watching them get their footing (literally lol) as little winter trail ponies!

Please enjoy some photos of these two babies absolutely crushing it this winter! From group rides with new horses to ba****ck in the chilly temps, they’ve done it all!! ❤️❤️

PSA: We are very aware of how hard outdoor winter riding is… we keep rides in the snow short and/or get off and hand walk these boys to keep things safe, positive and reasonable! ❄️❄️❄️

Monet - 4yo Grade buckskin pinto c**t 💛🖤🤍

🔹Monet is a shy boy who came in with some very serious issues, he has been in for a couple months now and after lots of time we have been able to uncover a very sweet, willing to please horse under all his layers! This tall guy has undergone some serious trauma and is still making strides to address those issues, he is currently on the lookout for a driving home if anyone is looking for a gorgeous, hardworking driving prospect!

Abbie - 18yo AQHA chestnut mare 🧡🧡🤍

🔹Abbie is a lovely creature who has had a bit of a rough life prior to her new owner acquiring her last year! Previously ridden and then used as a broodmare for many years, she has now come back under saddle. She is in for some confidence building miles and a bit of minor problem solving… I have such a soft spot for broodmares getting a chance to be themselves again and Abbie is no exception… really enjoying working with her!

Vespa - 8yo grade Arab bay gelding 🤎🖤🤍

🔹 Vespa is my most recent addition and he is quite the character! Previously lightly started he is in for a full start and trail miles. So far he has been fat and sassy but he has a great heart and is going to be very fun in time! Excited to see what’s to come for this handsome lil guy!

I am rather behind on new client posts, I’ll try to get all the new horses up this week! 😅

First up is…..

Harbinger’s Newest Client: Merlin 🖤🤍

Merlin is a 3yo grade QHx gelding, he has been in for training for just over a month. This lil fella came in to be started and turned into a riding mount for his owner! He finished his groundwork/first ride prep month and now has a few rides on him including a couple rides out!

Merlin has some aggression problems and bad ground habits but he is a sweet boy who wants to learn and spend time with his people… so far he has been very rewarding to work with and I’m looking forward to seeing who he becomes with more time!

Welcome Merlin! 🔮🔮

⭐️⭐️Fun fact: Merlin has sectoral heterochromia in his right eye meaning that the iris is two different colors… pretty cool! 🤩🤩

Had a little memory pop up on my phone today and I realized that I have had Siege for 4 years today!

Siege was a coming 2yo feral when I got her… she was starving, completely wild, incredibly violent/aggressive and challenged my horsemanship like no other had at that time… in short I remember thinking that I had bit off more than I could chew and there was no way I’d be able to train her.

Fast forward to today and Siege is without a doubt one of the most friendly, resilient and reasonable horses I have ever been around… she is a testament to the trainability and capablity of feral horses. These days Siege is not only a go to mount for myself, she has also packed everyone from friends to newbies on their first ever horse rides. Siege has logged hundreds of free ponying miles over the years, showcasing not only her hard working attitude (because really she could just go home if she wanted to) but her loyalty as she still responds to recall, “wait” and “out” cues when the choice is entirely hers. Under saddle Siege is nothing but reliable, doesn’t matter if you’re headed through technical terrain or goofing around tackless, this amazing creature has got you covered!

More importantly though, Siege is such a character… she’s a giant goof with a heart of gold who is always fat, dirty and ready to make your day!

Please enjoy some Siege spam from over the years… she’s unrecognizeable from the starving wild thing she was years ago, but I’ll always remember where she came from and it makes me love her all the more! 🥰

A lovely (and chilly 🥶) morning as the last two sale horses headed for their new homes! ❄️❄️❄️

This morning Bandit headed off to his new home as a full time grandpa of a youngster crop where he can share his sage advice and enjoy some light riding! 🧡

Piper also headed off this morning, she will be making her way to Southern AB to start her next stage with a VERY cool trainer… beyond excited to see what this new adventure brings for her! 🖤

Forge found his new home last week with an absolutely lovely lady… wishing him many happy trails with a person to call his own! 💛

aaaand last but not least, adorable little Percy pants actually found his new person in November! They have stayed on with me to get going together and are doing incredibly well! ❤️

So happy for these 4 ponies… stay tuned for an update on new horses coming in! ❄️❄️❄️

🩷FORGE - 16yo grade QH gelding who is a very cute old man with a talent for trail… this fella would make a perfect pleasure/trail/mountain mount for anyone just looking to enjoy a horse and watch the miles go by!

🩷BANDIT - 16yo APHA gelding who would make a phenomenal arena/pleasure/all around mount or could easily become part of a lesson program! Bandit isn’t the best trail horse but is a super fun ride and could dabble in most arena/pleasure disciplines!

🩷PIPER - 5yo grade QH mare who is looking for someone to take her on and take her to the next level! She is a shy one but with consistency and more training she will be an amazing mount. Piper would make a rewarding project for anyone with a kind, experienced hand!

BTE of Folger’s transition from a freshly started youngster this spring to the well miled mount he is today! ❤️

I have had the pleasure of having this adorable young fella in all summer, it’s always such a treat to be able to put so much time into a horse. Folger is forward, handy and so fun to ride!
