Happy Paws Pet Sitting Burlington Dogs is now Happy Paws! We offer cat sitting, dog walking, boarding & house sitting. Hi, my name is Suzie and I'm the owner of Happy Paws.

Here's a little of our history...

In early 2020, the opportunity to purchase a dog walking business, Burlington Dogs, fell into my lap, and I jumped on it! I had been helping a friend with her pet-sitting business from time to time, and I loved it. I took over Burlington Dogs from co-founders George and Helen, who had done a fantastic job building the company from scratch since 2018. I'm so happy to be carrying on the legacy they started, and honoured to still serve the clients who stayed on with me as the new owner. Changing the business name was always in the back of my mind. While Burlington Dogs primarily did dog walking, we picked up other furry friends as clients throughout the years and started to provide additional services. It was important to me to have a business name that captured all the services we offer for all pets. The Happy Paws name came about with the help of my oldest daughter. She was working on a school project where she was tasked with creating a business. She chose to work on a pet-sitting business. She was proudly showing me her work, and I thought, "Happy Paws...what a great name!" With her permission (and a promise of future partnership), together we created a logo and started the steps towards transitioning from Burlington Dogs to Happy Paws. Everyone always tells me I have the best job, and I totally agree. It's fun, but it is still a business, and I have a professional approach to it...and yes, belly rubs and ear scratches are a big part of the professional approach! We've always been a small and personal business, and I like it that way. Our team is comprised of pet owners, animal lovers, and overall amazing humans. We all have years of experience dealing with animals of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Whether you are seeking regular or occasional dog walks, overnight care, or care of your cat or other fur baby while you're away, we will be there. We are committed to making your pet's time away from you that much easier. You will have peace of mind knowing that your pet is in our care.

Before filling a bowl, a quick visual check can catch a rough edge or crack. If we spot one during a visit, we leave the bowl unused, follow the care notes for a safe alternative, and tell the family.

That is useful information during a visit. We can keep our movements predictable, leave the path open, and let the cat decide whether to stay put or come closer.

After a rainy outing, we can hang walking gear where air can reach it, once the dog is safely settled and the family's setup allows. It also gives us a chance to notice mud, fraying, or a buckle that needs a closer look.

That gives a sitter time to check the feeding routine, entry instructions, and any updates without standing outside trying to piece things together. The visit can start calmly, with attention on the pet rather than the phone.

Cardboard can be a perfectly ordinary part of a rabbit's setup, right up until it is chewed into a soggy, flattened mess.

During a visit, we follow the care notes and check the pen for pieces that are worn out or no longer sitting safely. We remove what needs to go, leave the familiar setup in place, and make a note for the family.

On the way back inside, some dogs want one last sniff around the garden. When the space is secure and their care routine allows it, giving them that moment can make the transition indoors feel unhurried. Then it is back inside for water and the rest of the household routine.

A leash clasp can look fine at a glance and still have grit caught around the moving gate.

Before a walk, a quick open-and-close check tells us whether it is moving freely. If something looks worn or does not close properly, that is a stop-and-check moment, not something to work around.
