The weather is heating up! ☀️ Sometimes it’s hard to leave those eyes behind, but with the high temperatures expected this week, your pup will be safer and happier at home.
A cozy couch, a sunny window, and the joy of a cool, safe house means a much happier reunion when you walk through the door.
On a hot day, the temperature inside a vehicle can rise dangerously fast, which puts your pet at serious risk of heatstroke or death and jeopardizes those happy reunions.
🐾 If you must travel with your dog, follow these safety tips:
🕒 Plan ahead - Travel during cooler parts of the day
🌬️ Use air conditioning while you're with them in the vehicle - keep the car cool and well-ventilated
💧 Bring water - Always have fresh water and a bowl available
🅿️ Never leave them unattended - Even with windows cracked and air conditioning running, it’s not safe
🧊 Use cooling aids - Cooling mats or vests can help regulate body temperature
🚑 See a pet in distress (exaggerated panting; anxious or staring expression; muscle tremors; lack of coordination; red or blue tongue and lips; convulsions; vomiting; or collapse) in a vehicle?
📞 Call 911 immediately, you could save a life. Stay with the animal until officers arrive.
