The bittersweet part of this job.
There’s nothing quite like watching a horse walk out of the barn, load up, and head back home to their owner.
It’s bittersweet — because somewhere along the way, they become part of our daily routine, our program, and sometimes, our hearts.
But truthfully? It’s also our favourite part of the job.
Watching the transformation. Seeing the confidence grow. Putting the hours in, building the foundation, and then getting to send them home knowing they are better prepared for whatever comes next.
That moment when you hand the lead rope back to their owner and realize the next chapter is theirs to write.
We may not get to keep them forever, but getting to be a small part of their journey is exactly why we do what we do. I know I speak on behalf of all of us here past and present, that the best part is seeing the hard work, long hours and questioning our sanity maybe just a little sometimes, all pay off!
