Barrie Drone Pet Recovery will be unavailable for drone searches until Thursday evening, October 29.

Although I won’t be available to attend searches during this time, you’re still more than welcome to call, text, or message me on Facebook with any questions or concerns.

Thank you all for your continued support and understanding! I look forward to getting back out there and helping reunite missing pets with their families.

Ever wondered what the world looks like through a thermal drone camera? Here’s a pretty cool example!

I took the DJI Matrice 4TD out to scan a farm field near my house, hoping to spot some deer and showcase just how impressive this technology really is.

We managed to find one deer! And even with the foggy morning conditions, you can clearly see it using both the thermal and powerful zoom cameras. The difference is pretty incredible!

As much as I would’ve loved to find a moving herd of deer to showcase, I was operating VLOS (Visual Line of Sight), meaning I needed to maintain visual contact with my drone throughout the flight. With the foggy conditions, I wasn’t comfortable pushing any farther.

Safety always comes first!

Now imagine using this same technology to search for a missing dog or cat hiding in a field, wooded area, or somewhere that’s nearly impossible to search on foot.

That’s exactly why I’m so passionate about what we’re building with Barrie Drone Pet Recovery!

HERE’S MY QUESTION FOR YOU: If your dog or cat went missing, would you have ever thought a thermal drone could help find them? Or did you even know this kind of technology existed?

Let me know in the comments! I’m genuinely curious how many people know what these drones are capable of!

I know most pet stores are closed by now, but if your pup had an unfortunate encounter with a skunk tonight, I’ve got a bottle of Skout’s Honor Skunk Odor Eliminator on hand!

If you’re in the Barrie area and in a pinch, feel free to send me a message. I’m a bit of a night owl anyway! 😅🐶

Some great news from today’s search!

We were assisting in the search for two missing dogs when a new sighting completely changed the direction of our search.

As it turned out, we had been searching approximately 6 kilometres away from where one of the dogs was actually located!

Thanks to a member of the community reporting a sighting, we were able to immediately redirect our search, locate one of the missing pups, and successfully reunite her with her owners!

This is a perfect example of just how valuable community awareness and reported sightings are during a missing pet search. Sometimes, one phone call can make all the difference!

Thermal Drones are awesome and can do a lot but at the end of the day they’re just a tool used in the search!

A huge thank you to the individual who reported the sighting and everyone who helped spread the word.

We’re still looking for her brother though so keep those eyes peeled please!

Not every missing pet situation is the same, and that matters.

Thermal drones can be incredibly effective…
but only when used in the right conditions.

In some cases, they can help locate a pet in minutes.
In others, they may not provide much advantage at all.

That’s why my goal is simple:
Be honest about when a drone will help
Be upfront when it won’t
Focus on giving you the best chance of bringing your pet home

If your pet ever goes missing, I’m always happy to give honest advice, even if that means telling you a drone isn’t the best option.

Could you find your dog in a 90-acre park in under 10 minutes?” 🐕🚁

Today I ran a real world test at Sunnidale Park.

This is what I would call an easy recovery. We had ideal outside temperatures, night time, open area and little tree coverage making this a perfect mission for a thermal drone.

I had someone walking two dogs somewhere in the park and my job was to find them ASAP

Time to locate: under 8 minutes.

This is exactly how drone assisted pet recovery works:

Cover massive areas quickly

Spot movement humans would miss

Reduce search time when every minute matters

If your dog ever goes missing, especially in wooded areas or parks like this, time is everything.

I’m building this service locally in Barrie to help people bring their pets home faster.
