❤️🌿 DAY 101- WE HAVE A NEW RESIDENT!

After 9+ days in quarantine, our beautiful Red Kiss Begonia has officially moved into our Canadian tropical jungle! 🌴🇨🇦

Whenever we bring home a new plant, we're careful about introducing it to a greenhouse already packed with plants. Quarantine gives us time to watch it closely before it joins the rest of the collection.

Tonight we're also checking on our Dwarf Cavendish banana, taking a gander around the greenhouse and heading outside for some garden updates.

Day 100 was the celebration.
Day 101 means it's time to start building the NEXT 100! 💯➡️200

🐉🌵 DAY 101- DID YOU KNOW DRAGON FRUIT IS A CLIMBING CACTUS?!

We celebrated 100 days yesterday, but today we're right back in the jungle! 😂🌴🇨🇦

For Day 101 we're featuring our dragon fruit and taking a closer look at its aerial roots, how it climbs, its incredible flowers and our long-term goal of actually producing dragon fruit inside our greenhouse here in Ontario.

The first 100 days brought some incredible growth. Now let’s see what happens during the NEXT 100! 💯➡️200 👀

💯🌴 WE MADE IT THROUGH DAY 100! 🇨🇦

Before we close the door on this milestone, we're taking one last nighttime gander around the jungle.
These 100 days have given us incredible growth, our little pineapple 🍍, a huge banana plant 🍌, dragon fruit, citrus, begonias, outdoor harvests, giant vertical pumpkins 🎃... and even a few moments that didn't go according to plan.

But that's exactly why I love documenting the entire journey, not just the successes.

Most importantly, this little daily series has created a community of people who genuinely seem to care about what happens to these plants. 😂💚🌱

Thank you for being part of it.
And NO...

We're not stopping at 100. 😂

💯🌴🇨🇦 DAY 100!!! WE MADE IT!

Today we're going ALL the way back to DAY 1 to see what 100 days of growth actually looks like inside our tropical greenhouse here in Ontario.
And WOW. 😂

When you're inside this greenhouse every single day, it's easy to miss just how much things are changing.
Then you put Day 1 beside Day 100 and suddenly you realize how crazy the transformation has been. 🌴

Our banana has exploded with growth. 🍌 Our grocery-store pineapple is producing an actual pineapple. 🍍 Our dragon fruit continues to grow. 🌵 And the entire greenhouse has become more of a jungle every day.

But we couldn't celebrate Day 100 without thanking YOU.

Whether you've been here since Day 1 or discovered us yesterday, thank you for following our family, our gardens and all of these crazy growing experiments. 💚🌱🇨🇦

100 days down… and we're nowhere near finished.

Tomorrow we start DAY 101! 😂🌴

DAY 99! 💯🌴🇨🇦 We're officially ONE DAY away from Day 100!

Tonight we're taking our usual nighttime gander through the jungle, but unfortunately we discovered something we weren't expecting outside. 😭🎃

One of our vertically grown pumpkins became too heavy for its hammock, the support failed and the pumpkin fell and cracked.

It's disappointing, but this is part of gardening. Every experiment teaches us something — and next year's vertical pumpkin setup is going to be MUCH stronger. 😂💪🎃

Thankfully, our other big vertical pumpkin is still going strong!
And tomorrow… DAY 100! We're going all the way back to Day 1 to see just how much this jungle has changed. 💯🌴

🍉 How do you know when a watermelon is actually ready to harvest?

Size alone doesn't mean it's ripe! Our vertically grown watermelon is getting VERY close, so today we're checking some of the signs I watch for the dried tendril, dulling rind, field spot and the fingernail test.

Ours is checking a lot of the boxes...but that rind is telling me we're giving it just a little more time! 👀🍉
And yes...this monster has been growing vertically in a sling here in our Canadian garden! 🇨🇦🌱

🍌🇨🇦 CAN YOU REALLY GROW BANANAS IN CANADA?!

Welcome to DAY 99 of our Canadian growing journey! 🌴

Today we're taking another gander at our Dwarf Cavendish banana including an old picture showing just how SMALL this plant used to be! 🌱😂

It's amazing how much growth you don't notice when you're looking at these plants every single day.
And tomorrow is the BIG ONE…
💯 DAY 100!

A bunch of you voted for it, so we're going back to DAY 1 and comparing it directly with DAY 100. 👀🌴

DAY 98! 🌴🎃🇨🇦 And tonight we're taking the ladder into the garden! 😂🪜

We started with our usual nighttime check-in through the tropical jungle, checking on the pineapple, banana, dragon fruit and everything else that's still growing like crazy.

Then we headed outside because one of our followers asked for a better look at the pumpkin growing over our cattle-panel trellis.

You asked… we got the ladder! 😂🎃
Getting above it really shows just how wild this vertical pumpkin experiment has become.

And somehow we're now only TWO DAYS AWAY FROM DAY 100! 💯🌴

🍍 FROM A GROCERY-STORE CROWN… TO THIS! 😳🌱

Welcome to Day 98 of growing our tropical jungle in Canada! 🇨🇦🌴

We started this pineapple from the crown of a grocery-store pineapple back in May 2025. We rooted it, planted it and gave it a home inside our tropical greenhouse.

Now, more than 15 months later, we're watching our very own pineapple develop! 🍍❤️

This plant has taught us one thing for sure, growing your own pineapple requires PATIENCE. 😂 But seeing this little fruit getting bigger makes every month of waiting worth it.

And when it's finally ready to harvest, we'll be doing the entire harvest and taste test with all of you!

PLUS… we're only TWO DAYS away from DAY 100! 💯🌴

DAY 97! 🌙🌴🇨🇦

Time for another nighttime gander through our Canadian tropical jungle!
The greenhouse is absolutely PACKED now. 😂 Tonight we're checking on our pineapple, huge Dwarf Cavendish banana, Birds of Paradise, orange tree and then heading outside to see those massive vertically grown pumpkins. 🎃🌴

But here's the crazy part…
WE'RE ONLY 3 DAYS AWAY FROM DAY 100! 💯

It's hard to believe we've been documenting this journey every day and watching everything change right alongside all of you.
