Hello everyone,

I would like to share a thought, and I truly hope it isn’t taken the wrong way.

Are people becoming afraid to post dogs they see wandering the streets—possibly lost—because of fear of harsh or judgmental comments?

On two occasions along Gladstone Road, I personally tried to catch dogs and ended up running late for work.

Eventually, I had to make a realistic decision: pull over, take photos, and ask for assistance through Facebook.
One of the most common comments I see is, “Why didn’t you assist?”

But isn’t assisting also pulling over, documenting the situation, and alerting the community so someone better equipped can help?

Not everyone is able to safely secure an animal in their vehicle, and many people are doing the best they can within their circumstances.

I think there should be a bit more sensitivity and understanding toward those who are genuinely trying to help animals—even if their help looks different from what others expect.

Kindness and teamwork go a long way when it comes to protecting our animals.

Meet River — The Neighborhood Dog

River is an old girl now. She walks slowly, her paws dragging just a little, and her nails stay perfectly short from all the miles she’s covered over the years. When she gets tired, she wanders over to my home — her safe spot — for food, water, and a quiet place to rest.

She was fixed many moons ago after I noticed she kept having puppies that never made it, often losing their lives on the road. Thanks to BAARK, that cycle ended.

I believe she’s deaf now, and it worries me. She no longer moves with the awareness she once had, and the traffic doesn’t forgive age 😭

If I ever win the lottery, I would buy a piece of land where dogs like River can retire peacefully — safe, loved, and finally able to rest without fear.
