She didn’t just heal… she became our little calm anchor.
Since Nova’s bladder surgery, she’s been choosing the softest moments to be close: curling up under a blanket, resting her head on my leg, and quietly “checking in” on my kids when they’re winding down after school.

It’s not training or a “job” we put on her, just her gentle way of saying: I’m here. You’re safe.

The thing nobody tells you about post-surgery recovery: It's not just about the dog.

My partner and I created a shift schedule like we were running a hospital ward 😅 He took the evening shifts, I took the nights. Every 2-3 hours, someone was taking Nova out. The exhaustion was REAL.

But here's what surprised me: Nova hated it more than we did. She'd look at me at 2am like "Why are you waking me up?? I was SLEEPING." Senior dogs don't appreciate being roused from their beauty sleep, apparently.

Worth every tired moment though. 🐾

Surgery went smoothly, but nobody told us about the bathroom schedule 😅 Every 2-3 hours for a WEEK. Yes, including 2am. Nova had other ideas about that plan. My partner and I took shifts because honestly? We were exhausted. The real recovery wasn't just hers—it was ours too. Worth it though. 🐾
