ACI Pharmaceuticals PLC — From a Market Leader to a Falling Giant!!
ACI Pharmaceuticals PLC, one of Bangladesh’s pioneering ISO-certified pharmaceutical companies, has built a strong reputation with several market-leading products and a long history of quality.
Unfortunately, its market position has reportedly declined from No. 4 to No. 11, raising serious questions about its current management and strategic direction.
The biggest concern is poor planning and weak management. In a pharmaceutical company, even daily production planning should be systematic and proactive. Yet, there are situations where proper planning for even the next day’s production appears to be missing. How can a company compete at the top level with such management practices?
Another frustrating issue is the difference in increment structure. Operators reportedly receive increments of around 25–30%, but only once every two years, whereas Executives/Senior Executives receive increments annually, but reportedly around 7–9%. This creates serious questions about the fairness and effectiveness of the compensation structure.
At the same time, company rules sometimes appear to be enforced much more strictly on Executives than on operators. Rules, discipline, and accountability should apply equally to everyone, regardless of designation.
Promotion should also mean greater responsibility and accountability, not simply a higher designation with reduced workload.
ACI has the brand, experience, infrastructure, products, and talent to compete at the highest level. What it urgently needs is professional leadership, strategic planning, accountability, and equal application of rules.
A company that once raced toward the top should not continue moving downward because of poor management.
