It’s the week of high achievers! Our long, long, long time members, Chris and mighty Bruce have (finally) completed the beginner test!!
When looking for early photos of Bruce I had to scroll VERY far, as this duo have been attending NCK9A for well over 3 year (it could even be 4 but my scroll couldn’t take me that far). Bruce and Chris have been consistent attendees of our beginner class for this time. Bruce is a well loved character in the community, we always look forward to his dress up at the end of the year and the odd occasion where we get him on board the Stay and Train for some “Bruce time”.

Chris is an incredible person, who has Bruce in her life for supporting her husband. For him, Bruce is a patient companion who helps make life a little brighter, for Chris he is her rock and always brings out the pizzazz during class on Sunday morning. We feel so lucky to be a big part of Chris and Bruce’s time together and we are so excited to see them challenge themselves in our intermediate level.

We can’t wait for Bruce to show his wild hair cuts, expressive underbite and levitating leash skills with our intermediate community. Congratulations Chris and Bruce 👏🦈😍

A new team has come bounding into the NCK9A intermediate level! Please welcome Leah and Oakley. This duo have been a consistent team in our beginners for almost 2 years. Walking in as a fresh pup, Oakley is a showcase of how to harness the energy of a dog into training (Oakley’s nickname is tigger). Although keeping his 4 paws on the ground proved his biggest challenge Leah has consistently worked through the motions and taken on the trainers advice as they’ve progressed. It’s about time we see these two move up and push some new thresholds. We can’t wait to see what new achievements these two make in the intermediate level. Congratulations 👏🥳

🐕‍🦺 A reminder that all dogs must be ON LEAD while at the school and in class.

‼️PLEASE ENSURE YOUR DOG'S EQUIPMENT IS FITTED PROPERLY! If you are unsure please ask a trainer to come and help you.

📣 Advanced and Intermediate, please bring a toy and a long line each lesson.

❤💛 Red and yellow bandanas are available at the desk for reactive and anxious dogs. Give extra space to dogs wearing red and yellow bandanas ❤️💛

🐕‍🦺 ON LEAD
🔸️All BEGINNER level dog MUST be on a short lead while at the school and during lessons. A trainer may provide a longline during an exercise. The dog must go back on a short lead at the end of that exercise.

🔸️All INTERMEDIATE level dogs MUST be on a short lead while at the school. A long line MUST be used when working distance exercise. NO INTERMEDIATE DOGS OFF LEAD.

🔸️All ADVANCED level dogs MUST be on a short lead or long line unless specifically directed by a trainer for an individual exercise. The dog MUST be put back on lead at the end of the exercise.

❤️ BANDANA SYSTEM 💛
Red and yellow bandanas are available for reactive and anxious dogs.
Please give extra space to dogs with a red and yellow banda.
If a trainer asks you to put a bandana on your dog, you must use a bandana in every class, until a trainer says otherwise.

📣 ADVOCATE!
Communication is the best way to keep our dogs safe and happy when training. If you need more space for your dog, speak up and move to a different location in the group classes.
If someone brings their dog too close, ask for some space.
If you are asked to give some space, no matter how friendly your dog is, respect the request and move on. It's not about your dog, it's about creating a training environment that works for the majority of people and their dogs.

📲 PRE-BOOKED CLASS REQUESTS 📲

💻 Please place your Sunday group class requests by tonight.

🌞 The NCK9A group classes on Sunday are to be pre-booked through our new system PETBOOST.

🐶 Please lodge your request in to group training by the Friday night before each Sunday.
Classes are still commitment free in nature, meaning you can book one at a time and refunds will be issued if for some reason you can not attend the class.

🦊 Occasionally, some classes may have limited spots available should we have limited trainers. This will be made clear in the class description in PetBoost and in social media posts.
Unfortunately, refunds will not be available for those classes.

🤔 How do I book the class?

Head to PetBoost (all existsing clients will need to activate their account), select book now, services and follow the prompts to choose your date and time!

You will receive reminders once your booking is confirmed!

👍 If you have completed our Kick Off or Foundation Course you are a NCK9A Member and can attend either Beginners class!

🎓 Puppy School Graduates are welcome to join any Beginners class.

⏰ Beginners 8:30am
⏰️ Advanced/ Intermediate 9:30am
⭐️ Members Only

🟢 All members must sign in with a trainer on arrival at NCK9A NEW LOCATION. 17 Northcott Cr Alstonville. Parking on street. Please take care walking through the gates of the facility.

🟢 Please pick up after your dog 💩 Keep off the gardens. Do NOT enter the crating area.

🟢 NO DOG TO DOG interaction during the training session.

🟢 Family are welcome. Children must be supervised at all times. Do NOT let children interact with the dogs.

🟢 What to bring.
Treats 🥩🧀, treat-pouch, a toy 🥎 p**p bags 💩, 4ft or 6ft lead, flat-collar or training collar, good shoes 👟 and appropriate attire for all conditions, hat 🧢 and sun/insect 🦟 protection, raincoat ☔.

Cost per class (per dog) is $30

🎓 PUPPY SCHOOL COURSE 🎓

📣 NCK9A Puppy School Course is now open for booking!

👉 Starting on Thursday the 10th of September with a introductory webinar followed by 4 practical sessions on Monday evenings.

🤎 At North Coast K9 Academy, Alstonville.

🐶 These classes fill up fast! So book now to give you and your pup the best start to building a life together.

🔸️For puppies between 8 to 16 weeks of age at the date of the first lesson (14/09/26).
🔸️Classes run for one and a half hours.
🔸️6pm.
🔸️$350 for the 5 week course.
🔸️Small class size

🐺 These classes are designed by trainers to give you the information to start raising and training your puppy. They offer a unique opportunity for you to learn about dogs.
🔹️How to appropriately socialise your puppy.
🔹️How to manage and prevent behaviours from becoming problems.
🔹️How to set up an effective communication system.
🔹️How to interpret body language.
🔹️How to play with your puppy.
🔹️How to introduce basic commands and obedience.
🔹️How to use enrichment and the environment to mentally stimulate your puppy.
All this will be taught with a mix of theory and practical exercises.

🐺 Puppy School graduates are eligible to join the NCK9A Beginners Classes on Sunday's and Midweek Classes.

🐶 Puppies must have their first vaccination before starting.
