The senior gang is taking a well-earned break! Dad Tom, Mum Chelsea, and their daughter Lola have officially claimed the bed as their private family lounge. No other dogs allowed — humans may enter, but only with treats and permission! 🐾❤️

Moxie and Her New Adventures
Some puppies show their personality from the very beginning, and Moxie was definitely one of them.
Even as a tiny puppy, it was quite clear that this little girl had a big personality. Smart, confident, curious, and always ready for an adventure — especially if that adventure involved something she probably wasn’t supposed to have.
Moxie now lives with a wonderful family and two human sisters, and she has already found a very important role in the household: reminding the girls not to leave their things lying around.
Because if something is left within Moxie’s reach… well, she may decide it deserves a closer inspection. Sometimes with her teeth. So the girls are learning to tidy up a little faster these days — Moxie is apparently a very effective teacher!
For all her cheekiness, though, she is also incredibly affectionate. She loves to curl up beside her mum — or, even better, lie completely upside down with her belly in the air, looking as comfortable and content as a little dog possibly can.
She loves her walks by the ocean too, and her family says she is proving to be a very clever girl.
But there is something especially lovely about Moxie’s new home. Her family already knew Snowgalhouse because years ago they welcomed Zeus into their lives. And now Zeus has Moxie.
They have become wonderful friends, although Moxie has introduced a little healthy competition into his life. She is fast — sometimes very fast — and Zeus is discovering that when there is a toy to chase, this little girl may get there first. We’re not entirely sure he approves of that part of the arrangement!
It is always special for us to see where the puppies born at Snowgalhouse go and the lives they build with their families. And it is even more special when, years later, another little Snowgalhouse puppy becomes part of a family we already know.
Moxie is exactly where she belongs — loved, spoiled, busy keeping everyone entertained, and clearly enjoying every minute of her new life.

News from little Walter!

We absolutely love receiving updates from our puppies’ new families, and today it’s Walter’s turn.

Walter is doing wonderfully! His third vaccination is almost complete, and very soon he’ll be ready to start meeting and socialising with other puppies.

But this clever little boy has already been very busy learning. Walter can sit, stay, drop, come, and walk beautifully at heel. What a little superstar!

Most importantly, though, Walter is very much loved. His family describes him as such a wonderful little puppy, and you can feel from every message just how special he has become to them.

For us, this is always the best news we can receive — knowing that one of our babies has found his people, is happy, learning, growing, and completely surrounded by love.

Keep being a good boy, Walter. We are very proud of you! ❤️

Look who’s growing up! Hazel & Henry 🤍

Our little brother-and-sister duo are already happily settled into their new family — and just look at them now!

Ears up ✔️
Third vaccination done ✔️
Puppy fluff completely out of control ✔️😂

Their coats are currently sticking out in every possible direction, giving them that absolutely adorable “I woke up like this” puppy look. Grooming is coming soon… but for now, we think the wild fluffy stage is pretty cute!

Most importantly, Hazel and Henry are happy, healthy, loved, and absolutely thriving in their new home.

We LOVE getting updates like this and watching our Snowgalhouse babies grow. ❤️

We are often asked by people looking for a puppy whether we ever have older dogs available — dogs who have retired from breeding and are, perhaps, no longer “needed.”

We have spoken about this before, but today I wanted to answer that question again by telling you about Tom.

Maybe we are not unique. I hope there are many breeders who feel the same way we do. At Snowgalhouse, our dogs do not stop being ours when their breeding days are over. Our retirees stay with us for the rest of their lives. They have earned the most special places in our home and in our hearts.

Tom is 13 now. He can barely hear anymore, but he is still the same incredibly gentle, loving soul he has always been.

When Tom was only six months old, a tiny one-day-old kitten came into our lives after being separated from its mother. I bottle-fed the baby, but Tom decided that raising this kitten was his job too. He would carefully lick the kitten’s tummy just as a mother cat would, stay close beside him and protect him from the other dogs.

He was only a puppy himself, yet somehow he understood that this tiny creature needed him.

That is Tom.

He has always been incredibly kind and caring. He loves everyone. Even at 13, he still plays, enjoys the little things and greets each new day with happiness.

We are so grateful for every year we have had with him, for his beautiful nature, his enormous heart and all the love he has given us.

And now we ask just one thing of him:

Tom, please stay with us for as long as you can.

We absolutely adore you.

Some puppies stay especially vivid in our memories, and Max is definitely one of them. I remember him so well as a little puppy — his beautiful soft coat made him look almost like a tiny toy.
As I always say, I remember every puppy who was born in our kennel, and I remember the wonderful people who came to take them home and made them part of their families.
We’ve shared Max’s adventures on our page before — he has grown into a real traveller. His family has sent us some new photos, and it seems his love of adventure is as strong as ever.
Max loves travelling, exploring new places and joining his family on bicycle adventures. And after a busy day full of new impressions, even the most enthusiastic traveller needs a good rest.
It is always wonderful to receive these little glimpses into the lives of puppies who once started their journey with us, and to see them happy, loved and enjoying life to the fullest.

Whenever I leave, the dogs always come out to see me off and calmly watch me drive away. Today Naomi climbed right up onto the back of the chair so she could sit higher than everyone else. I think she just wanted to say, “We know you’re leaving, and we know you’ll be back soon.”

One thing I've often thought about over the years...

Throughout all the years of breeding Australian Silky Terriers, we've never used coloured puppy collars to tell our newborn puppies apart. In the beginning, it was simply because I was worried about putting anything around such tiny necks.

What still amazes me is that I have never needed them.

We've raised a great many puppies over the years, yet I can still remember every single one. I remember the order they were born, their tiny differences, their personalities, and even the feelings I had for each of them. Some litters had only one puppy, while others had several, but somehow I always knew exactly who was who from the very first day.

The funny part is that I can easily forget everyday things—where I left my keys or what I did yesterday—but ask me about a puppy born years ago, and I'll probably remember exactly what they looked like as a newborn.

For every litter, I put everything else aside. I stayed with the puppies day and night, sleeping beside them and watching every little change. Perhaps that's why every one of them has stayed in my memory.

I've often wondered if this is just how a breeder's heart works.

Henry and Hazel are growing up so fast! 🤍🐾

Brother and sister are exploring the beautiful source of the Murray River, discovering new sights, new smells, and a big world full of adventures. Every day brings something new, and it's a joy to watch them grow with such confidence and curiosity.
