Better for Geelong Compost at Mitre 10? You better believe it! 🤯
You can now buy 25 litre bags of locally made Better for Geelong compost from Fagg's Mitre 10 South Geelong and Wallington stores.
This compost is made from garden waste collected in green bins across the region, a brilliant circular economy project that diverts 35,000 tonnes of waste from landfill annually! ♻️
The green waste is transformed into nutrient-rich compost at the City’s Anakie organics facility and has already been used across a range of local community gardens, including the Barwon Heads Community Garden and the Geelong West Community Garden, where members have reported healthier soil and thriving plants. 🪴
“This milestone is something the whole community can celebrate. It shows how the humble home green bin can create real products, real jobs and real environmental benefits right here in Greater Geelong,” Environment and Circular Economy portfolio chair Councillor Elise Wilkinson said at her recent visit to Mitre 10 South Geelong.
“It also highlights how our region is leading the way in sustainability and innovation.”

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Mary Winsome “Win” Corless, founder and owner of Wallington’s WRG, earlier last week.

Win, alongside her late husband Ed, built the business from a small landscape operation into a valued part of the local community for over 22 years. She was deeply committed to giving back and was a dedicated member of the Lions Club of Ocean Grove–Barwon Heads for more than 40 years.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Win will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

We extend our sincere condolences to the Corless family. Her legacy and community spirit will always remain a part of Wallington’s WRG.
