🐍 BROWN SNAKE RELOCATION – FOREST HILL 🐍

Riverina Snake Catcher attended a residence in Forest Hill after a Brown Snake had a go at the family dog before quickly retreating down a hole in the backyard.

With the snake no longer visible, it took a little patience and some careful investigating. Using an inspection camera to locate the snake, followed by some careful digging, we were able to safely capture it.

The Brown Snake was then safely relocated away from people and pets. 🐍

A good reminder that if a snake disappears into a hole, under a shed or somewhere out of sight, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s gone!

🐍 MEET ROXIE – OUR DARWIN CARPET PYTHON! 🐍

Say hello to Roxie, our beautiful Darwin Carpet Python and a much-loved member of the Riverina Snake Catcher family.

Darwin Carpet Pythons are a non-venomous python native to northern Australia. Like other pythons, they subdue their prey by constriction rather than using venom.

A few facts about Roxie and her species:

🐍 Roxie is a female Darwin Carpet Python
🐍 She is 2 years old
🐍 Carpet Pythons can live 20 years or more in captivity with good care
🐍 They are excellent climbers and use their muscular bodies to move through trees and branches
🐍 Their forked tongue collects scent particles from the environment, helping them investigate what’s around them
🐍 Their beautiful markings provide excellent camouflage
🐍 And despite that serious-looking face, Roxie is a curious girl who loves exploring!

These photos caught her doing what snakes do best — checking out her surroundings with that tongue working overtime! 👅🐍

Roxie is a great reminder that snakes are fascinating animals and play an important role in our environment.

🐍 RIVERINA SNAKE CATCHER – WAGGA WAGGA 🐍

We attended a premises on Pearson Street, Wagga Wagga, after a snake was spotted while some clean-up work was underway.

It was initially believed to be a Red-bellied Black Snake, but upon arrival we located a Brown Snake amongst the timber and debris.

The snake was quickly and safely captured and relocated, allowing the clean-up to continue. 🐍

Shout out to Snake Catchers NSW for the recommendation for today’s catch.

🌤️ With spring just around the corner, snakes are already starting to show themselves around the Riverina.

If you’re cleaning up around the yard, sheds, timber piles or other stored materials, take that little bit of extra caution. Stay alert, wear appropriate footwear and gloves, and never put your hands somewhere you can’t clearly see.

🐍 RIVERINA SNAKE CATCHER – JUNEE 🐍

We attended a home in Junee after this juvenile Brown Snake was spotted coming out from a retaining wall.

When we arrived, the little fella was still out enjoying some afternoon sun, which made for a quick and safe capture. Also thank you for keeping an eye on the snake (from a safe distance) while we were in the drive over.

The snake was then relocated away from the property and out of harm’s way. 🐍

With snakes already starting to make an appearance, it’s a good reminder to keep an eye around retaining walls, gardens and other areas that can provide shelter.

🐍 RIVERINA SNAKE CATCHER – BRUCEDALE 🐍

Attended a home in Brucedale for a Brown Snake that had been spotted out in the garden.

By the time I arrived, the snake had curled back up underneath a rock.

For the safety of everyone involved — people, pets and the snake — it was decided that relocation was the safest option. The snake was safely removed and relocated away from harm. 🐍🌿

Even though we’re still in winter, snakes are already starting to make an appearance on suitable days, so it pays to stay aware around the yard.

🐍🎒 ROXIE’S READY FOR SCHOOL! 🎒🐍

Our pet Darwin Carpet Python, Roxie, has decided she’s had enough of staying home and is trying to sneak into the school uniform to head out for the day! 😂

Not sure she’ll fit in the backpack… or what the teachers will think! 🤣🐍

Looks like someone is keen for a little adventure! ❤️
