LOST YOUR PET? Don't forget to check the Animal Management Centre! (AMC)๐พ
There are endless animals not only being surrendered but ending up at the pound DAILY that are either strays or lost cats or dogs ๐ฑ๐ถ The pound is constantly overflowing!
โ Check this link for a list of the lost cats and dogs of the region -> https://www.rockhamptonregion.qld.gov.au/CouncilServices/Animal-Management/Lost-Animals
There are 3 local animal rescues, and multiple southern rescues who save the lives of the animals from this pound HOWEVER they are held for a certain amount of time prior to this to allow for reclamation.
๐Before this, the AMC will:
- Scan for a microchip and contact the owners if so and wait for owners to collect.
- Hold the animal for a certain amount of time prior incase someone comes forward that may have lost them, all before they become "available" for rescues to save. These animals will STILL appear on the website for you to see, but won't have the status "available for adoption"
๐ฐ To reclaim your animal, there is a fee put in place via the AMC.
You are able to reclaim directly or seek the help of a local rescue, CAA, RSPCA or CQ Animal Society to help!
| Sadly not all animals are microchipped or their details aren't up to date.
If they're not microchipped or the chip details aren't up to date. The pound can't contact you to let you know your animal is there.
