Massage isn’t just for dogs with obvious aches and pains 🐾

This lovely Cavoodle enjoyed a gentle massage session focused on relaxation, comfort and overall wellbeing.

Just like us, dogs can carry tension through everyday activities, play, exercise and life in general.

Not every session is about addressing a problem. Sometimes it’s simply about helping a dog relax, unwind and enjoy some positive hands-on time.

And judging by this little face, I’d say he was quite happy with that 💚

“Should I stop exercising my older dog?” 🐾

It’s a question I hear quite often.

While every dog is different, movement is incredibly important for maintaining muscle strength, joint mobility and overall wellbeing as dogs age.

In many cases, it’s not about stopping exercise altogether — it’s about finding the right type and amount for that individual dog.

Shorter walks, more frequent breaks, varied terrain and activities tailored to your dog’s comfort can often be more beneficial than complete rest.

Our senior dogs may slow down a little, but keeping them moving comfortably can play an important role in helping them stay strong, mobile and happy.

As always, if you’re concerned about pain, injury or changes in mobility, it’s important to seek veterinary advice 🐾

Simple things can make a big difference to a dog’s comfort 🐾

A supportive bed can help reduce pressure on joints and provide better overall comfort — especially for:

• senior dogs
• active dogs
• dogs with stiffness
• dogs recovering from injury
• dogs who spend a lot of time resting

What works best will vary between dogs, but many dogs benefit from beds that are:

✔ supportive
✔ easy to get in and out of
✔ thick enough to cushion pressure points
✔ placed somewhere warm and quiet

Sometimes the little everyday changes matter just as much ✨

Dog fact 🐾

Ever notice dogs suddenly “shake off” after something stressful, exciting or tense?

That full body shake is often a way for dogs to release tension and regulate their nervous system.

You might see it:
• after play
• after meeting another dog
• after the vet
• after training
• after feeling unsure or excited

It’s one of the many subtle ways dogs communicate and process the world around them ✨

Sometimes we don’t realise how important comfortable movement is… until it changes 🐾

The way they run freely.
The excitement in their stride.
The effortless jumping, playing and zooming around.

Dogs are incredibly good at adapting, which means subtle changes in movement can often go unnoticed at first.

Helping dogs stay comfortable, mobile and able to enjoy the things they love is such an important part of their overall wellbeing.

Because those happy little moments matter so much ✨

Movement matters 🐾

Dogs are incredibly good at adapting to discomfort, which means signs of tension or soreness are often subtle before obvious limping appears.

Sometimes it looks like:
• slowing down on walks
• stiffness after resting
• reluctance to jump or use stairs
• reduced endurance during play
• posture changes
• tightness through the neck, back or hips
• seeming less comfortable in movement overall

When dogs compensate for discomfort, other muscle groups often begin working harder too — which can create further tension and restriction through the body.

Canine massage focuses on supporting comfort, mobility and body awareness through gentle, tailored treatment that works within each dog’s comfort level.

Because active dogs deserve to move freely, comfortably and confidently ✨

Wondering what actually happens during a canine massage session? 🐾

Every dog is different, so sessions are tailored to their individual needs and comfort.

A session may include:

• posture & gait observation
• gentle hands-on assessment
• massage techniques to support comfort & mobility
• nervous system relaxation
• reassessment after treatment
• simple at-home recommendations if appropriate

My goal is always to work within the dog’s comfort while creating a calm, positive experience.

As our dogs get older, everyday movements can start to feel a little harder 🐾

Stiffness getting up, slowing down on walks, changes in posture, trouble settling comfortably, or simply seeming “not quite themselves” can all be signs their body is needing a little extra support.

Canine massage can help support:
• Mobility & flexibility
• Muscle comfort
• Circulation
• Nervous system relaxation
• Overall wellbeing & quality of life

Because comfort matters at every age 🤍

This lovely girl has a history of IVDD and presented with low head carriage alongside tension through the thoracolumbar region and neck.

After spinal discomfort or injury, dogs often develop compensation patterns as they adapt their movement and posture to protect certain areas of the body.

These compensation patterns can contribute to:

• muscle tightness
• altered posture
• reduced comfort
• tension through surrounding regions

Sessions like this focus on gentle, conservative treatment while always working within the dog’s comfort.

Every dog is different, and collaboration with vets is so important in cases involving spinal conditions.

The neck can act as a compensatory area, holding tension when other parts of the body are affected by injury, stiffness or changes in movement.

Slow, considered techniques are used to support comfort, relaxation and overall wellbeing.
